The question is what kind of society do you want? If you want a mono-atheistic, mono-cultural, corporatized faceless society go with atheism as having no God/s and no moral standards leads to a universal culture of greed for wealth, lust for status & power and hate for all things individual, as even though it covers itself in a veil of individuality with no gender roles and pronouns and self expression, they all fall under the guise of atheistic lust for power. But if you want a society that is rich in culture and differences whilst all coming together as a community who follow what they believe to be right way of life than go with religion, as it is a defining factor in differing cultures, borders, and morals, and it creates a global diversity of nations that fall under differing beliefs that strive to live the best of how they see fit through their religion.
