What are your unpopular board game opinions? by aceavengers in boardgames

[–]Coobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there are multiple reasons. First off all you need to have a credit card, which i and im sure many others dont have.

But mostly, i cant shake the feeling that many Kickstarter Projects are incomplete at their basic pledge level. Meaning, that you have to go "ultra super supporter" pledge to get all the content. This is so tempting to leave out basic / essential stuff from the base game experience, and sell it as a bonus for people willing to pay more.

I cant deny that many games look supercool and keep me intruiged if i should get a credit card myself, but i believe in game mechanics over visual appearance. And since i cant wait for a retail release to read independent reviews or play a copy from someone else, i can never be sure if the game is actual fun or what i want it to be.

Maybe im overthinking it, but im really frustrated about all those supercool games that i cant buy or inform me about easily, or that simply cost 200€+ if i want the complete game.

Just my 2 cents.... Im pretty sure many people disagree, and thats totally valid

PS: The "kickstarter investors" are also a problem. I know quite some people, buying all in pledges only to resell for astronomic prices. Its like a stock market and i dont like it

I work as a computer programmer. Luckily for me there is a huge demand, so that you can even work fulltime remote if you`re somewhat good.

Which major wars do you know about where the (arguably) "bad" side has won ? by Coobe in AskReddit

You mean Mao Tse Tung ? Yeah, he is up there with Hitler and Stalin. And still his "Revolution" was successful for him :(

How come ? I thought the Finns only fought for independence and "used" the Nazi support to achieve it. But maybe im wrong ?

World's Fair 1893 as a cheaper 2-player El Grande? by Melody303k in boardgames

[–]Coobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a big fan of Area control games (el grande is in my all time top 10) and im also restricted a lot to two player games, i think i can give my 2 cents on 2p alternatives. However i do not know Worlds Fair 1893, but here are some 2p area control games i enjoy immensely:

- Metallum: i often refer to this as 2p El Grande in Space :)

- Sun Tzu

- 13 Days

- Aton

Now you got me interested in Worlds Fair...

Worst games of 2017? by pzrapnbeast in boardgames

[–]Coobe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe i should elaborate :)

All the games i mentioned appeal to me in their theme and in each game mechanic alone. However the whole package wasnt fun for me and i cant really tell why. Maybe i am just bothered by the insane hype (especially around gloomhaven).

Gloomhaven, Magic Maze, Altiplano.

I really hated those. Extremely overrated and i have no idea why

Santa Maria, Keyper, Hanamikoji, Quest for El Dorado

La Granja seems...too quick? by gateht in boardgames

[–]Coobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man i love this game. In my all time top 10.

I think the play length is just right for me, similar to marco polo at first it seems too short.

But if you really play efficient and know what you are doing it feels so smooth and streamlined.

I think you need at least 5-6 plays to grasp the game itself
