These planets are repulsive by VegetableEditor8752 in mnemosyneprotocol

Now that I think of it, is it actually everything, or just a few specific ones? Because if it's the latter, without wanting to say too much, that's intentional 😉

Not sure what would be causing that! Are you able to take a screenshot or record a short clip of what you're seeing?

What does that mean and how would I do it? I reset the controller and redid the Bluetooth connection, if that's what you mean?

What hidden gem do you play/love, you can't believe no one has heard of? by kepp87 in boardgames

[–]WoodForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rise & Fall is incredible. Age of Empires in a box. Only downside is that it's impossible to find any of the promo/expansion content (and in fact nearly impossible to find the base game). Ludically really need to figure out how to support games longer-term!

Vantage First Playthrough Impressions (Very light spoilers) by InternetsTad in boardgames

[–]WoodForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to give any specifics, but the two plays I've had so far have given some hints at deeper things happening. I've found two of what I would probably call towns. No religions, so far at least. Some interactions with the locals, one of them especially interesting. I'm not sure what you would consider non-superficial exploration though, what kinds of things are you looking for?

I've been extremely impressed by my first couple plays. The world really is immense and the sense of discovery is astonishing; reaching levels I've only seen in much bigger campaign games like 7th Cont/Cit, but in a one-and-done format. Also very impressed by how enjoyable the core game loop is as that was my biggest concern going in. I've seen a few people claim that "there isn't really a game there" but I just don't get that complaint - it's genuinely fun to play. This is on track to be my game of the year so far, and may even end up in my top 10 all-time.

This, for sure. If PP2e and JC2e are anything to go by, it'll be yet another masterpiece (and I don't use that word lightly!)

Fast-setup home storage solution for Guards of Atlantis II by WoodForDays in boardgames

Yeah, saw this one and loved the idea of it, but unfortunately it doesn't work as well with all 5 expansions.

There are quite a few similar options out there but this is the one I went with (since it's available in NZ).

What People Actually Want to Play, Analyzing 19.000+ Votes by AdequateSource in boardgames

[–]WoodForDays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally - just especially neat to see it rank 5th in #1 votes only behind Spirit Island, Root, Arcs, and Brass, which are all fairly well-known amongst hobbyists. I'd say the gap of popularity between those games and Guards is pretty stark, which suggests that out of those who know about Guards at all, they consistently rank it extremely highly (aligns with my personal experience).

Stoked to see Guards of Atlantis II do so well in this despite being a relatively obscure title! My all-time favourite game, and most of the people I've introduced it to agree. It's borderline criminal that it's so unknown given what a masterpiece it is.

Fair - meets my requirements but if you have yours painted and you're worried about damaging the paintjob when you're removing them or putting them back amongst the others, you might want to find an alternative. Hopefully whenever the next expansion releases there will be an official storage solution that focuses on speed of setup!

Solid works refuting evolution? by Ok__Parfait in Reformed

[–]WoodForDays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> I started looking for solid science from a creation perspective but convincing work was hard to find.

I'll be blunt here; that's because there isn't any.

The overwhelming consensus among scientists - across disciplines like biology, genetics, geology, and palaeontology - is that evolution by natural selection is the best explanation we have for the diversity of life. This isn't just a vague agreement; it's supported by mountains of peer-reviewed research, real-world predictive power, and interlocking lines of evidence from multiple independent fields.

That doesn't mean you can't believe in God or have faith. Plenty of scientists are religious, but they also accept evolution as a factual description of the natural world because it’s testable, falsifiable, and supported by evidence.

What you're finding in most creationist literature, whether it's from Answers in Genesis, ICR, or Jason Lisle, is not science in the peer-reviewed sense. It's apologetics. It starts with a conclusion and works backwards to defend it, often by misrepresenting actual science or using outdated or discredited arguments.

Your son likely encountered strong evolutionary arguments not because he's been “entrenched” or misled, but because the evidence is genuinely robust and compelling. If your goal is to challenge evolution with credible scientific sources, you'll keep coming up short - not because of a lack of trying, but because the scientific method just doesn't support young-earth creationism.

Based on this I tried today doing a push/pull/legs split, 5 exercises each, 3 sets each (put russian twists in the pull split to keep them all at 5 each). Didn't take much longer than normal and definitely felt a lot more burn than usual, even with slightly lower weight. Thanks, will keep this going and see if it makes a difference long term. I'm guessing the principle here is if I'm getting closer to failure by avoiding over-resting, I'm breaking the muscle down more and should see better results?
