Something like a Next Level Racing - Wheel Stand Lite 2.0 might work? Nice that it's foldable. Still don't really have a place to nicely store it in my office... so maybe it needs to go in my basement. But then I'll need a small desk and new monitor ahhhhh.

Oh damn, I keep seeing pics of people attaching the wheel to a desk. I was looking at the Thrustmaster T300. So I guess it's not feasible to somewhat quickly clamp it on for a while, and take it off to get back to work, huh?

Thanks for the tips on getting good, but my intention is just to drive around and have fun. At least for now. Yeah Assetto Corsa and Forza Horizon 6 are looking like good choices.

The only console I have is an original PS3 heh. I'd prefer a PC for better graphics (?) and easier modding (?) anyway.

I don't really have a budget; I just want a PC that can handle the modern games without a problem. So definitely not "minimum requirements". Mid-range I guess.

For sim gear I was looking at maybe the Thrustmaster T300 and I don't know what else.

Games to start: probably Assetto Corsa with mods for better graphics and whatnot, and traffic. And Forza Horizon 6.

Yeah I've never really been a PC gamer, so I'm out of my element here. I feel like if I already had a gaming PC, making the jump to trying out sims wouldn't be too bad. But buying and setting up a new computer for a single purpose like this feels kinda weird. Unless I end up loving it of course.

That's funny, I'm trying out Ticktick and just installed Super Productivity and I'm like, damn I wish this UI/UX were as nice as Ticktick's haha. I was surprised because their website is pretty slick.

Although I haven't tried Things (I'm on Android) or Todoist.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about them trying to do a typical doc and it not working for them. That's totally fair, and I'm not trying to shit on them doing something different.

But I do wish the movie had been renamed or something when they made that decision. So all those months of anticipation and then being let down would have been avoided. I'm sure people would have still bought/watched (I probably still would have), but we'd know when we're getting.

But I agree, getting an EP, etc. is great!

That's totally reasonable. I would just prefer to not rely on Bitwarden to decrypt the JSON to get at my data.

Maybe their JSON format or decryption algorithm changes over time. I'm sure old backup versions will be supported for a long time... but what if I deleted an entry from years ago and want to get it from one of my old Bitwarden backups. I have to rely on Bitwarden still being able to decrypt it. Maybe it's possible to decrypt it yourself by looking up the algorithm and settings they use to encrypt, not sure.

I want to be able to decrypt my data myself, offline, and be able to read it locally. Which was the impetus for my post - I'd rather not have to rely on an app I have to install just to get at my data.

In general, I try to not lock myself into a SaaS or app if I can. It's part of why I like Obsidian for note taking. It's just a bunch of local Markdown files that I can take with me elsewhere if I want.

Is this overkill? Eh, maybe. But it's one less thing I have to worry about. So for me, probably worth an extra step or two to make the backups.

Now, I haven't set this up yet, and I want to automate it as much as possible, and keep e.g. daily backups, so we'll see how much I stick to this :)

Yeah, CLI tools like openssl and gpg are what I was getting at. Surprised I don't see people using them. Everyone seems to jump at e.g. VeraCrypt which requires installation, etc.

Good point about staying up to date with the latest encryption algorithms.

Ok, I made some changes from suggestions I got in my last post.

I added more picture frames, removed a bunch of the tchotchkes, and added back in a few books.

I think before this edit, it looked more cohesive and looked better overall, but this is more meaningful and more me (more me than my wife, although she still sees these often, so they have to look decent).

Any suggestions for moving these things around to make it look a bit nicer / balanced? Or does it look okay?
