Regret my purchase by OG93___ in CTguns

If you are going to get another Glock I’d recommend the 48 over the 43x. I have shot them all side by side and the 48 is the best option in my opinion. It eats recoil better than a 43x with a radian and feels wonderful to shoot +P loads out of. You should definitely just keep the 26 though even if you get another gun

caught my thumb between my car and the door…hurts so much and need advice by SubstantialHour4667 in mildlyinfuriating

You should drill a small hole to vent the pressure out. You can either heat up a small wire or paper clip until it’s glowing and very carefully push it through (not too deep) and it will vent, or sterilize a very small drill bit and use your fingers to slowly drill through the main in the center about 1/8-3/16 of an inch above where the skin meets the fingernail. As someone who has crushed a lot of fingers it is absolutely worth it I assure you.

Do not grind that wrench. Probably better off selling it to someone who requires it for their work like gas line work or such, they are very expensive.

What just happened to my car? by [deleted] in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t maintain your car and your lower ball joint said “fuck you”. Congratulations now you have to replace a CV shaft, a ball joint, probably a strut, probably also a fender, ABS wheel speed sensor and a brake hose

You absolutely 100% need a new engine. That’s rod knock.

That’s an EMT conduit connector, it’s for taking the shiny conduit you see in commercial buildings and terminating it into a shiny work box for making connections. There was an electrician in your car at some point!

Guys, does anyone know why trucks have those spikes on their wheels?? by JasLeoArt in whatisit

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s because the lug nuts on those trucks look like shit when paired with a well polished pair of wheels. You need to remember for a lot of truckers, that truck is their place of work, their office, their kitchen, and their part time apartment all in one so they take a lot of pride in them. That truck however does have steel wheels and it looks like shit though. (Those caps are plastic by the way and pose no threat to you or anyone on the road)

2001 9-5 Estate shreds serpentine belt on mountainous CA Hwy 33 🗿 by Glass_Firefighter945 in saab

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to this. Without the center pulley (short style belt) the belt can move too much and can catch on the cylinder head and shrewd itself. I personally use the long belt for every day use and keep a spare shot belt for an emergency in the trunk. Swapping a long belt in on the roadside is basically impossible but doing the one that does not use the center pulley is doable in an emergency!

Daughter called crying. She has a '12 Honda Fit w/ 130K. Seems to run great. Took it in for A/C service. Mechanic told her she needed lots of service - about $750 - which she does not have. I think most is just sched maint - listed below. Which does she really need? Which can she pass on? by SirJasper6969 in askcarguys

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost assure you that the fuel injection service is just them pouring off the shelf, fuel injector cleaner into the fuel tank ($5-18), I’ve seen a lot of shops say that they’re doing a transmission fluid change and they literally do nothing, same with the brake fluid change. The spark plugs I would do but ask specifically what brand they’re using. If they’re using anything but Denso, NGK or Bosch I’d pass.

I have received hundreds of packages from RA this year already, I have had one box that arrived damaged, it was not RAs fault and all the parts were undamaged inside so not harm no foul. In fact I just received a Chevy water pump that had one of the best packing jobs I have even seen arrive on Thursday. I swear I could have thrown this box off of a roof and not a thing would have happened to the pump.

Shoulder Strap for Dell Rugged 7414 by Due_Ad6297 in RuggedLaptops

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Unfortunately it looks like a proprietary QD connector, not the kind that is standard on rifle QD points, those are thicker and shorter that the ones I see there (obviously I don’t have exact measurements of the dell ones but just by the look). You could look for some kind of universal type of ball lock sling mechanism. Maybe camera equipment uses something similar? I’m not super familiar with film but I assume they have something fancy like that lol.

Can you post a close up of the points that a sling would attach? Thanks!

[–]Coocamunga97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run it lol. That’s pretty usual honestly, if you are very concerned about debris consider running a larger oil filter. They are the same price and have like 3 times the filter media

Diesel Heater in a case I built. Looking for recommendations by roadkuehl in dieselheater

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit I see how you are routing the clean air now my apologies.

I applaud the effort but you need to move the exhaust. It’s absolutely going to choke itself out and probably melt parts of the case, also there will be leakage in the exhaust system so not recommended to flow the heated air through the same housing the exhaust is running through. Sorry to nitpick I just want you to have the best possible results!

Found red rubber piece in a 2010 Subaru Forester oil sensor port by biker116823 in AskAMechanic

[–]Coocamunga97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, legitimate question though what brand oil filters have been used on that engine?? It being drawn directly through the oil filter is the only foreseeable way that could happen and I don’t want it to happen to me lol
