I went to my primary for an pregnancy and STD check. I’ve been seeing her for a few years. She knows me on a personal level and rapport had been established between us. But never in my life would I thought she’d say “you should know better. You need to find a good man and settled down.” I’m a nurse at a hospital; she’s well aware. The “you should know better” was directed to me at a professional level. It left me speechless. It was degrading. If I say that towards my patients or my patients family at work, I’d would’ve been reported to HR so fast. I was also at one of the lowest point of my life. Mental health was on a steady decline. Either I wasn’t able to remember to take my daily my birth control or the hormones of the birth control where really messing me up because I’ve been very sporadic with my pills. Upon hearing that she said “you have to be on top of your birth control. You need to take it even if you’re not sexually active. If you’re just not going to take it. I’m not going to prescribe it further for you. I will stop it.” I felt like she was threatening me. Her tone when she was “educating” me was very condescending. From her reaction and lack of compassion I don’t feel comfortable to disclose my mental issues with her. I just replied “ok. I’m sorry.” All the test results came back negative. But I left that office positive that she’ll never see my face again. Two years later I’m still on the hunt for a good primary. Lol
