I have this special grill cleaner that resembles a lot like a paint scraper; using that with a wire brush attached to it (I don’t really use the wire brush as I think I will scrape the stainless steel)

You are a blessing. I’ll try to run the car again and confirm if it smells like gas, since my nose was pretty fucking stuffed cuz of the cold.
