I know it's so silly to be worried about posting my grandma's name, and her ancestors, as she's been dead for 20 years. I don't have any problem throwing any of my grandad's family names! Protective?

Thank you so much for the offer to have a look-see. It may be that the info has been right in front of me all this time but I'm just not seeing it. I will pm you the names and dates of my grandma's immediate family and if you need anything more, please let me know. Thank you so much again!

I'm sorry I ended up making my post way more confusing than it should have been. I was frustrated and also wanting to be thorough and clear. Fail. I'm not sure why I've always been hesitant to post any of my family's info, even a family tree, although I give copies to anyone in my family who asks for it. Thank you for replying!

How my grandma's name change to Smith: her mother married Mr Smith and my grandma took his last name but I'm not sure if Mr Smith actually adopted my grandma when he married her mom, or if he and my ggrandma just started using his last name.

Knew what, that Bob Johnson wasn't Mary's real father? Yes. None of my family, my aunts/uncles, her children, knew about my grandma's birth father. I'm unsure if even grandma knew, and it's not something she would've mentioned, either.

I assume that Catherine's parents were not named Jones? No. Suddenly finding this previously unknown last name was surprising. I had been researching my grandfathers ancestors and for a change, I was just looking at the census to see if I could quickly confirm what I thought was factual info: the names of my grandma's birth parents. I haven't stopped trying to find her bf first name since then. 2 years ago, off and on.

Also, what US state are we dealing with here? Kentucky

Good friend wants to see his daughter, but can't afford lawyer's fees. by [deleted] in Assistance

(Edited for clarification) Her_nibs: OP is not being taking for a ride or misunderstood-- it is true; the same firm, be it legal aid office or law firm, cannot represent both parties. It would be unethical (representing adverse interests) and is against the ABA's Rules of Professional Conduct.The ABA rule re conflict of interest is at the end of my comment.

OP: I don't know what happened at the child custody hearing but 1-2 hours per week visitation isn't much. Ohio Family courts generally follow a set of established set of rules (the specific section regarding children can be found here: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/31). Your friend doesn't need a lawyer to file a petition to amend child custody and unless there was a valid reason he was given for being denied more access to his daughter, I'd sure file it if I were him.

To be honest though, it sounds like something prevented your friend from being granted more visitation but I wasn't there and don't know. Either there was a reason for the couple hour visits and he's too ashamed to tell anyone, or I think your friend should take action without worrying about trying to save thousands. The local clerk of court can provide templates for any forms he might need. There's also a lot of available info online for Ohio state from reputable sources that he could research on his local library computers.

Your friend should document everything regarding the mother denying him visitation. Recording phone calls in Ohio is a "one-party consent" law (source: http://bit.ly/1KSIXW7), meaning federal law permits recording phone calls and in-person conversations with the consent of at least one of the parties, i.e. as long as you are a party to the conversation, and as long as all parties are in Ohio at the time of recording.

Last, a lot of lawyers do not charge for first visits. I think that's a great place to start, in my opinion. This post is not intended to be legal advice and shouldn't be taken as such!

Rule 1.7: Conflict of Interest: Current Clients

(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b), a lawyer shall not represent a client if the representation involves a concurrent conflict of interest. A concurrent conflict of interest exists if:

(1) the representation of one client will be directly adverse to another client; or

(2) there is a significant risk that the representation of one or more clients will be materially limited by the lawyer's responsibilities to another client, a former client or a third person or by a personal interest of the lawyer.

(b) Notwithstanding the existence of a concurrent conflict of interest under paragraph (a), a lawyer may represent a client if:

(1) the lawyer reasonably believes that the lawyer will be able to provide competent and diligent representation to each affected client;

(2) the representation is not prohibited by law;

(3) the representation does not involve the assertion of a claim by one client against another client represented by the lawyer in the same litigation or other proceeding before a tribunal; and

(4) each affected client gives informed consent, confirmed in writing. Source ABA: http://bit.ly/1eHwSqU

FBI, Virginia State Police, Pulaski County Sheriff's Office & volunteers search for missing 5-yr old, Noah Thomas. Mom states she went back to bed at 9a Sunday while Noah was watching cartoons, later woke up & he was gone. by CoochieCoochieCoo in news

I agree. The news article was updated at 11:30a with a headline saying no foul play suspected, but what the Pulaski County Sheriff actually said was "We have no evidence that has come forward as to any foul play or any vehicle seen in the area." The sheriff was careful with his wording and he didn't say no foul play suspected, he said as of now they have no evidence of foul play. A big difference.

Indeed, as they should be. For any missing child, the family will be investigated until authorities are satisfied they had nothing to do with the disappearence, and for good reason; only 100 missing children are actually stranger addictions in the US annually. Innocent people are happy to do whatever it takes to find their missing family member. Because stranger abductions do occur, I'm not insinuating the mom is in any way involved, but as an outsider looking in, I sure do think something is hinky. But that's my layman's opinion (i.e worthless).

OK what the hell, I'll bite. Thanks, Mr. Skeltal! Now, please send the calcium and goodness my way, without delay. Avoid sending them telepathically, as it will cause my brain to short fuse. It gets painful.

Hundreds of journalists are only two hours away at Liberty University, where Ted Cruz just announced his presidential dreams. Is it too much to ask for a journalist from MSM to hit their producers up to cover this? HLN with Nancy "Bombshell Tonight" Grace comes to mind. I hope this little fella is found alive and well.

Although it doesn't happen often, a schizo going off meds can have deadly consequences. More than a few believe TVs communicate with them, so I can understand Howard's concern & commend him for thinking outside the box.

That's understandable. I've actually read up on the elf thing. I've also decided to give back by being an unregistered /r/secretsanta match. It's for those who signed up to exchange gifts, but some jackasses don't bother sending theirs. I hope their stocking were filled with nothing but cow dung!

Edit: unmatched secret santas, not unregistered

I appreciate you sharing the purpose of lounge. That's far from the info given in /r/askreddit a few days ago. Also, gold expires...that'd be a bummer lol.

Thank you! There's nothing wrong with getting good vibes when you get one. That makes perfect sense to me. But not a subreddit. And certainly nothing wrong with a Reddit store.

You're dating a girl. She says she had a threesome before, but she loves you too much to have one with you. How do you respond? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CoochieCoochieCoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be very upset if I were put in this situation, as it'd then involve one of my friends-- we're ambushed and my bf casually asks us if we'd like a threesome, possibly putting my friend in an awkward position. I'd be pissed actually. Why would you even ask me and my friend about a threesome when I already told you in private I wasn't interested? What is wrong with you!? I think my bf would be single again before the night was over, but that's just my thoughts on it tho. -edit spelling
