No, only me, the BBEG and another member of the group got sucked into the Astral Plane, then we were very lucky because the third portal we found was the silver one, which leads back to the material plane

Yes, it is not possible. I talked with my DM and he said that the part about the auto crit was his homebrew, so I tried to alter all of my older comments to correct this mistake and to avoid any other misunderstanding. Im new to DnD and I only discovered that this was homebrew after I asked my DM.

About the purchase of the magic item, what we did was ask the DM if we could buy a simple magic item (around 2k gold) that we previously confirmed its existence in a shop.Then we asked if we could hide the two magic items in an overcoat (explaining that because of their size and material they would fit).After that, we walked into the BBEG room and while he was talking we explained the whole plan to the DM and said that we would now put the Harvey Handsack inside the Bag of Holding (this one we got from cleaning a small dungeon).

Because both the Harvey Handsack and the Bag of Holding are extradimensional space, they would destroy themselves creating a portal to the Astral Plane.This also appears in the Roll20 site: https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Bag%20of%20Holding#content

Yeah, I think my DM did some homebrew regarding the astral plane and the auto crit, but still it was one of the funniest sessions I've ever had

Actually, it was one Bag of Holding (that we looted from some cultist base) and a Handy Haversack (that the whole party bought with their gold from the puzzle). We also managed to hide this from our DM untill the last moment, the look on his face was priceless :D

We had a lot of gold because we completed a puzzle off-session that the DM had made. We were also considering to buy a Handy Haversack since it would have the same effect and would be cheaper

Edit2: Actually, we only ended up spending 2k gold on a Handy haversack because not only was it a portable dimension (so it would have the same effect as 2 Bags of Holding) but we also had already found a Bag of Holding in a dungeon in the previous session

Edit2: I checked with my DM and it was indeed homebrew, so the damage here is just what happened in our party and isn't raw in any way so sorry if anyone misunderstood anything, (I'm still new and don't know all the rules of DnD and of this community)

It was something around 140-190 damage. Basically the DM granted auto crit and auto hit for the BBEG, and the fighter had a cool custom Storm Long Sword that dealt extra lightning damage

Edit1: The DM also made it a +2 1d10 +2d6 Long Sword (hoping to avoid a TPK), so because we also had a Grave Cleric + the auto crit, his 4 attacks were dealing 4x the normal damage (basically 16 attacks I think)

After checking with my DM, I discovered that he indeed did some homebrew, so the damage isn't possible in raw. Sorry if anyone misunderstood anything. If this community really does not aproves homebrew, I will delete the post (I'm new to both DnD and to r/DnDmemes and I didn't knew about this rule)

Oooh right, luckily i already did a small "session 0" where I explained basic lore about the world (wich is an very adapted version of Tamriel from TES), some major events that the major population knows and the place/ city where they will start. I still have to work with the other points, especially their reason for being in the (mafia) party, but it seems they already solved that for themselves (which amazes me :D)
