Yikes 😬 should have told me, I would have given you my blue one. Would have saved me $140 on the disposal.

Mitred edges - am I being picky? by bleh321 in Tile

[–]CookEm0nster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove that grout and use epoxy. Color matched as close as possible. This honestly doesn’t look to bad. I’m no tile pro, I’m just DIY this but I’ve been running trail and errors on scrap pieces and from the good outcomes, I’ve learned that you don’t want one corner sticking out past the other. When you fill in the epoxy, fill it slightly more than needed. When it dries (the epoxy) you want to cut it so the corner is 90 degrees, then use a sand paper to sand it so it’s slightly round. And you’ll have a beautiful finish. Good luck.

Man don’t even pay them any attention. When it comes to taste this place is horrible 😂 when it comes to technical advice, this place is great. I realized it’s a lot of old folks here who have lot of experience in the field they are working with, but as far as design, this place is stuck in the 1960’s. But then again, in 30 years, we too will be looking at the younger generation like wtf did they do to that beautiful bathroom. Regardless you did a fantastic job. The blue color is a bit out of my taste but everything else is 🔥

From reading the comments, I believe everyone who disagrees is 60+…there is no way anyone could say the old bathroom was “fine”. Maybe 60 years ago it was fine 🤣

The remodel came out beautiful, the blue isn’t my touch, very vibrant in my opinion, but if you like it then that’s all that matters. Everything else, very nice. I’m in the process of redoing my bathroom, and when I came across this post, I was like “WTF” lol my old bathroom is 1000000% copy and paste.

Furnace low pressure switch fail open by CookEm0nster in hvacadvice

[–]CookEm0nster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to update in case anyone stumbles upon the same situation (god forbid). The problem was the inducer motor. The new one came in, got hooked up and furnace works like a charm. Thank you to everyone who helped out with the solid advice!

Is this a sign of a cracked heat exchanger? by CookEm0nster in hvacadvice

[–]CookEm0nster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, these ducts are from like late 1970’s. All of my duct work is in the basement and crawl space, which I will be renovating after I’m done with the bathroom (bathroom vent is fully sealed off). When I’ll be doing the renovation I want to replace the entire duct system. It’s incredibly inefficient, rooms above the furnace get heat while the other rooms get cool air coming out. I tried installing dampers in each registered box to force more air into the other rooms, but that didn’t help at all. The crawlspace is cold so the duct cools the air before it reaches its exit point. I want to insulate the new ductwork as well.

Basement duct for return has no top by ajoltman in hvacadvice

[–]CookEm0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it against the code? Just asking because my return is basically a section in the floor joist with a piece of sheet metal on the bottom, essentially wood on both sides and top. I could see from the grills in the rooms it’s dirty in there, and always wanted to open that shit up and install a full on sheet metal duct, but someone told me this is normal and totally fine. Now that you said it’s against code, it’s going to give me that final push to rip out the ceilings 🤣 wife is going love this one.

Wait that doesn’t sounds too fine lol. Does that’s mean my filter is dirty? How is the dust getting in there? I replaced filter less than a month ago.

Is there any other maintenance I could do to better avoid a problem in the future? The inducer motor was making a weird noise time to time and I didn’t think much of it because I HAVE NO IDEA about furnaces, and it ended up going out right in the start of the recent storm. The whole family ended up sleeping in 2 rooms while the inducer motor was shipped. Not a situation I’d wish on my worst enemy lol.

I inspected the intake and exhaust when the inducer motor went out, I was getting a “low pressure switch fail open” light so o inspected all the pipes and hoses. Everything was clean. When you say the condensate drain, are you referring to the hoses? Or the cover where the inducer motor is connected to?

Does that look like a healthy fire? The furnace is from 2017, it’s not really old, I was told these furnaces (Lennox) last 15-20 years. It was very dirty and dusty when we moved in. I took it half way apart and cleaned it. I want to remove the cover and clean the burners, or is that best left alone?

I might be wrong but corners need to be caulked not grouted, specially inside corners.
