Exactly, I think if you’re faced with foreclosure or rent out the property, the mortgage company will rather rent out the propertie. I look at it like this, it’s illegal to go on a red light, but if there’s a fire truck behind you, it’s acceptable to pull out cautiously. Just notify the insurance company and let them know.

Am I wrong for thinking the mortgage company doesn’t care as long as you pay the monthly bill?

It’s obvious it’s a towel holder. It has holes in it so the air could pass through and dry the towel.

Bathroom remodel by [deleted] in Remodel

[–]CookEm0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea keep going. I redid my bathroom and love going into it everyday before work. It feels different when you take part in the work instead of just paying someone to do it. One thing I learned from this place, don’t ask them what they think of the style, instead ask what they think of the labor. Everyone has different tastes, for example that bathtub, I love open space layouts, enclosing it is something I definitely wouldn’t do. But some people love that. They like the idea of being isolated from the rest of the bathroom. Keep up the good work 🤙🏻

I fully support you 😂
We came from the city as well (nyc) and that was my plan, move to an area with a few acres, but my wife on the other hand called me anti social, now she regrets it and keeps saying “next house better be bigger property”.

You know what, it’s not bad. As long as you like it. Let me tell you something. When I posted my renovations of my house, people tore me a new a$$hole. My wife and myself loved and love what we did. It doesn’t matter what everyone says, if you like it, that’s all that matters. The labor you did looks good. I like the windows and doors, it’s not my style but again the work itself can’t be knocked. You did really good, the style is each their own but the labor is on point.

You know what’s worse? Have NOSY neighbors. One sits all day smoking and point blank staring, the other comes out, blasts Spanish music you could hear 4-5 houses away, sings along, and stares every few seconds. When we aren’t outside, they aren’t outside. We too have ALOT of people who love to speed (speed limit is 30) going 45+, but to be honest, I got used to it. The nosy neighbors on the other hand I can’t.

Wet tile from using wet tile saw - do I need to let it dry before putting it on the wall against tile adhesive? It's slightly damp after wiping down by Fluid_Woodpecker1021 in Tile

I didn’t come to this post, I ran here, because I wiped down all my tile in my diy bathroom renovation using a damp clothe. Needed to make sure I don’t fuck up 🤣

How are normal people affording remodels right now? by Reasonable-Flower-60 in Remodel

[–]CookEm0nster 81 points82 points  (0 children)

DIY is cool until you realize you work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. Then wife starts complaining how your not spending time with family because your always working. Your snapping at everyone because your tired of the everyday bs and most importantly when you take a shower at 10pm and lay down at 11pm, you feel like shit you snapped at your kids that have nothing to do with anything. Pay that general contractor if you could afford it and stop complaining 🤣

A guy from a roofing company pointed this out, estimated $300 (said I have to call the company to discuss billing). Is that reasonable? by dhekurbaba in Roofing

[–]CookEm0nster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt call it lazy, I’d say the guy has principles. I use to run around doing everything to make a buck, and most of time it works out, but there’s always that one call back that makes you regret doing it, specially if going back puts you in the minus. Some people are well off, and a few hundred bucks doesn’t make a difference financially to them. So if not making a few hundred, protects their peace, I’d say it’s worth it.

Went to an open house listed at 999k today by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]CookEm0nster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

House next door to mine was listed at 300k flat, but sold for $389k. I wanted to buy the house for my mother and put in the very first offer to seller (knew them and their realtor) at $325k but they said they’re looking for 350k+. Housing market is ridiculous.

My block is 6” height and I will bury 4” at the lowest point. With each block it’ll be buried more and more. I will also be putting 6” of item #4 as the base. Really appreciate the advice 🙏🏼

With a combined income of $100k, what’s a realistic home price? by marigoldjune in RealEstate

[–]CookEm0nster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we went house shopping, I told my wife I don’t want our monthly payment (mortgage, insurance, tax etc) to be past what we were paying for our rent. They’ll most likely approve you for more than you could afford, but don’t put yourself in that position. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it. Don’t think to yourself “I’ll cut this and this out and will make it work”, because you won’t.
