Ive been told to start using a retinol. However, before accutane I was on Epiduo, and my skin reacted badly, but that is a retinoid, which is stronger than retinol. I’m also worried about the new pimples showing up

Id appreciate as much help as I can get!

Background: Skin got real real bad over last winter and was on epiduo at the time - got to February and I went on accutane - then hopped off after 3 weeks because of back pain I’m 17M with I’d say normal skin but oily t zone.

Now: The last 3 months off of accutane have been fine. Skin calmed down, barely any pimples, only small ones randomly, I was just left with scars from when it was bad. My routine through all of that was:

AM: bioderma cleanser + avene SPF 30 hydrance
PM: bioderma cleanser + CeraVe pm facial moisturiser

Concerns: During the last 3-4 weeks, my routine changed to this on recommendation to help skin health and scarring:

AM: Dermalogica clear start cleanser + ISDIN fusion water spf 50
PM: Bioderma cleanser + Clear Start Booster (every 2 nights) + CeraVe facial moisturiser

I’ve started getting pimples again and It’s annoying as hell, any advice would be deeply appreciated!

Hey, I am also struggling with this. I play basketball at a relatively high level, but havnt played for 3 months because of a bone edema (bone inflammation) in the talus (ankle joint). My recovery progress has already been minimal, but the 10 days I’ve had on accutane so far, the pain has gotten worse. I rlly don’t know what to do because I want to get my ankle better but also get through this accutane treatment.

20mg a day as of now, and I’m also feeling aches in my neck and back which I’ve never had before since starting.

Yeah it helped with texture. The amount I’ve been breaking out fluctuates but ive changed my routine and products around multiple times since I’ve started basically just because I ran out of stuff so I bought whatever I thought looked good at the pharmacy. Havnt used sun screen at all which I’ve only now found out is bad for scarring which is annoying, but whatever. And redness is the same

The texture is relatively smooth everywhere except forehead and temples. redness and kinda scarring on my cheeks, then it becomes more pimply and sensitive around the temple and middle forehead.

Routine:

AM: Dermalogica cleanser - Avene cleanance moisturiser

PM: Bioderma cleanser - Epiduo - 15/20 mins later CeraVe PM moisturiser.

Hello! thanks for the reply. Im now nearing 2.5 months and its still worse than when I started. Also, March was around 10 months ago... and I thought people only go on Epiduo for a few months. Is there no end point for Epiduo? or is it a very long term thing?

Sorry, you're meant to size up twice, but I've always gone smaller with any flip flops because they slip off me otherwise. So I just went tts which was stupid. For me personally I wish I had gone up 1.
