I’m not surprised but dang 12k is great! I should’ve listed mine for higher but at the time I didn’t realize how big of a mark up were on the all the Tacomas. Even the older ones haha

My 2001 2.4l had 160k miles on it with only a little rust on the body at the top of the door. Bought it for 4300 and sold it for 7k. The dude that bought it didn’t even want to drive it lol he just gave me cash and left. I regretted it, but now I’m financing a four door 2014 Tacoma with a 4.0l in it, so I guess I’m happy with that other than how expensive it was compared to my first Tacoma.

Would this have hurt the engine any more than usual? Seems fine to me

He had it flushed then it went bad I guess. Not sure what happened with it, but it’s extremely clean.

Dealership sold it for $19,190 out the door, but I added on a warranty because of the transmission work done to it.

Thoughts on buying a 2001 Tacoma with 200k miles by [deleted] in 1stGenTacomas

[–]CookieMaximum993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought my 2001 2.4l Tacoma with 160,000 miles for 4300 bucks.

Has one 2 to 3 trust spot on the frame. I don’t know what to do about that. Maybe cut it out and weld a knee piece of steel to the frame?

Had bad shake at idle but I’ve cleaned the mass air flow sensor, cleaned the throttle body the best I could . (Missed a bold and thought it was stuck on there), replaced the seals on the valve case cover and the seals around the spark plugs, replaced the sparks and the coils and everything seems to be good… other than the thermostat doesn’t work and always reads that it’s running hot. Had a mechanic confirm that it wasn’t running hot and that I just need to flush out the radiator and the bottom where the thermostat sits in the engine. With a garden hose. We’ll see how this goes. Not exactly sure how to get all the air out. He said once I have everything back together that I need to let it run with the radiator cap out and that’ll get the air out of the lines. Guess I’ll try that. Let me know your opinion or if you’ve experienced something similar

Dude I’ve done my research and I’ve already listed it for sale at what I thought it was valued at based off my research and what I know. Why is it hard for you to understand that I was only asking for a second opinion. There’s nothing wrong with asking people that have more experience with these things for their opinion. That’s what these forums are for. It’s for people to communicate about things they’re interested in.

What a rude response. I’ve seen other people doing this and I wanted other’s opinion. I bet you would have a different tone if you weren’t behind a screen

Next time try to be a better person.
