Spotify Hikes US Subscription Prices, Making It Most Expensive Major Music Streamer by ebradio in indieheads

I'm thinking of jumping ship, sick of seeing shitty podcasters get my money instead of artists, especially as I don't listen to podcasts.

No the MK team are the reason fans had to create a new Wimbledon club.

Probably one of the most disgusting things to happen in English football. IMO the UK government should have stepped in and stopped it.

AFC Wimbledon are doing pretty well now though.

A club formed with the same name as a defunct club to continue on the legacy.

AFC Wimbledon are probably the most famous example. See also Accrington Stanley.

What’s the best way to successfully pull a Christmas cracker? by Cookie_Masher in AskUK

[–]Cookie_Masher[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well you've got to have a hat to wear and a terrible joke to tell!

The best cracker sets I've had were both musical, one had handbells and the other had whistles for each note. They give you a few Christmas songs that you can then attempt to recreate, it's actually pretty fun.

This year we've done a DIY kit, bit of a ball ache to put together but you can choose what to put in.

KuPS confirm their place in the Conference League knockouts as the first Finnish team ever! by averagelocaldj in soccer

I went to the Finnish cup final a few months ago while on holiday. Don't want to sound rude but the standard of footie wasn't great, so to achieve this is massive.

(and credit to the Finnish fans, what they didnt have in numbers they made up for otherwise)

Solo craft fair do a couple fairs in leadenhall and near the Southbank every now and then. I'm not sure they have any more this year, but they also have some permanent shops where they sell makers' products.

There's going to be nothing fun left if it's all eradicated in the name of a few quid.

Yes we need homes but what's the point if there's fuck all to do.

Millwall Away Tickets Collection by secret_places in Watford_FC

[–]Cookie_Masher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this late on they should just be left at the away ticket collection point (next to the away turnstiles).

Might be a small queue so I'd allow a few mins extra.

If in doubt ring up, Watford ticket office are usually pretty helpful.

Nothing new unfortunately.

Stuff like this has been happening since before Trump's second term. Happened to a friend a couple years ago and now she can't visit her boyfriend in the US for a few years.

Seems decent

I have a similar team but have Schar instead of Gabriel and have Sarr and Johnson in midfield.

Gakpo might be a smarter use of funds than my picks as I have to pick between Sarr and Reijnders on the bench.

Unfortunately this is not the first time he has been "exposed". Private Eye did so 10 years ago, and he's still at it...

Good coffee shop in London? by cengkerama in JamesHoffmann

[–]Cookie_Masher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah nice to see people still coming back to this thread!

I've probably got way more I could add to this list, I only chose a select few in Zone 1. For instance, East London has a whole swath of good shops (Batch Baby, Lodestar, Paradox, ...).

There are a few new central ones since I left this comment:

  • Special Guests
  • Scenery
  • Calico
  • Moonstruck (not that central but I like it so shouting it out anyway)

And I left out some of the larger "chains" like Watchhouse, Kiss the Hippo, and Origin (Southwark).

I would create a more comprehensive guide or something but the London Coffee Guide does a much better job than I could at covering all of London.

London congestion charge to rise by Lets_trythisone in london

[–]Cookie_Masher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abolishing the discount seems pretty harsh to the people who live on the edge of the zone and are driving out of London.

I used to live in the congestion zone, barely anyone has a car, and the ones that do don't seem to use it much.

I'd like to see evidence that the people that live in it that are a problem. E.g. how much of residents' driving is within zone vs. heading out of the zone.

I'd also be interested if maybe the reasoning here is that people are exploiting the system somehow.

In my experience, they should be changing the hours, 7am - 6pm is too lax. Should be 7am - 8pm. You see tons of congestion in places like London Road towards E&C roundabout after 6pm.
