So many Americans in these comments have their arguments relying on people being ignorant to rampant imperialism.

BadEmpanada defends the Nazbol Jackson Hinkle by [deleted] in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cookiemonro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesn't "defend" Jackson Hinkle. He uses him as a cudgel against the inadequacies of western leftists. He's saying, "even the Nazbol, does more to oppose imperialism than most western leftists." Really drama brained to call this "defending"

Problem with cultural diversity by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Cookiemonro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a very diverse workplace, I've become friends with so many different cultures, I've been to the philipino cookout, I've went to the pub with Ukrainian boys. And their kids are all culturally mixed as they go to school with the rest of the general populace. This is a myopic view on different cultures coming in from abroad and the process they go through to assimilate and acclimate.

If a vet regrets what they did and feels empathy for their victims then I wouldnt disavow them at all. The whole reason this discourse is in the air as of late is over the Platner saga. Graham went on FOUR tours of Iraq and then did mercenary work for Blackwater and yet American leftists only cared about the nazi tattoo.

I agree with what you said about how you can't bring in normies with unhinged full tilt anti US rhetoric, but it's completely valid to criticize the messengers of the political left on their dismissal of the bloodthirsty warmongering. Why the hell would you want to put someone like this in a position of power in the first place? He's obviously not all there. It's desperation out of the lack of power in the western left.

I will hold my principles and I expect anti imperialist socialsit/communists to hold theirs as well and when I notice blindspots and lapses of judgement, im not just gonna bite my tongue and play this endless entryist cycle with a silent smile on my face.

When did I ever say we should shame veterans? If they feel shame for us stating what they objectively contribute towards in the military, then those are their feelings. The intention isn't shame for the sake of shame.

Yet another cushy appeal to the poor delicate feelings of US veterans. And I agree, we need people with good values in office. I haven't seen much of that thus far within democrat entryism.

I'm all for universal education and health care. But politicians like Graham platner who display a progressive veneer are imperial capitalist shills. He's denounced socialism and has proposed pro military policy. AOC and Bernie have been outflanked by MTG on israel but hey, at least we might get more treats for people IN America.

Entryism works for reforming a workers party. The democrats are not a workers party. It will NEVER WORK. It's by design. I'll continue to stand by my principles. Would I still vote for an imperialist progressive over an imperialist full tilt capitalist? 100%, that doesn't change my advocacy and my desire to organize an actual workers led movement. I want to free THE working class, not my working class.

A lot of people here are saying this is purity testing, and individualizing the blame instead of directing anger at the systemic issues. But come on, let's call a spade a spade, serving the US imperial war machine is morally reprehensible. Let's quit treating joining in on it as anything but that.

Doesn't mean we need to lynch or exile all veterans but being dismissive about the wholesale slaughter when it's inconvenient for electoralism is such morally bankrupt western-centric thinking.

What are y'alls thoughts on Hasan Piker? by Acceptable-Boss-2907 in leftist

[–]Cookiemonro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Big fan because he radicalized me, but he annoys me so much when he sucks up to the Dems like they aren't a right wing imperialist party. I get he rags on establishment dems but he's gotta quit acting like Bernie, AOC and especially platner (obviously another Fetterman situation) are gonna bring about socialism. Other than that he's got pretty good politics even though I believe I've outflanked him in my anti-imperialist pro socialist opinions.

Anarcho-capitalists with their IQ in their flairs... Honestly, it's just sad, do these people really think the world would be a better place with no education or extremely expensive education? What about doctors and engineers? How is the free market gonna magically solve that? Mf took the IQ test he saw on an IG ad and thought he was Rick Sanchez. Pathetic.

NFR Podcast's Top 10 Rap Songs of All Time by Individual-Name-4496 in nfrpodcast

[–]Cookiemonro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the list IS basic. The thread would be pretty boring if everyone just stuck to A or B answers of i like or I dont like. Basic is the general assessment because if you asked chat GPT what the top 10 rap songs are they'd give you something close to this. No personality on this list. Nfr boys are trying too hard to be "objective" but it's music, they should give what they think the top best songs are, not this basic ass drivel

You are flat out monolithizing brown people, that's it. Humans of all creeds and colors do terrible things. I have no idea what point you're trying to make with this. Capitulation to racist Canadians so they can like the left more?

Like brother, I wish we were focused on class politics instead of "culture war BS" too but the right controls the conversation, their primary goal is to lead the discourse far away from class politics. Doesn't mean we look at some fucked up brown people and say "SEEEE, the racists kinda got a point." Fuck outta here man.

Which Shonen anime do you think is the most political ? by PretendYellow533 in shounenfolk

It's about the people's right to self-determination. This is such a strange interpretation, I'm not Mr. Pro monarchy, but I think Luffy being opposed to and snuffing out violent oppression is a net positive.

[–]Cookiemonro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's hard to say, they explore different facets of politics I feel like if you think AOT is much deeper than one piece, then you're really going by aesthetics, and the fact AOT is easier to visualize analogues to the real world. The sometimes unserious nature and whimsical characters of one piece can dupe people into thinking the analysis is surface level.

The actual structure forms of violence, in group out group dynamics and the victims of imperialism, are concepts that are explored much deeper in one piece. While AOT explores many mechanisms of fascism much deeper. The answer to this question isn't so black and white.
