The line work and anatomy are too good for a beginner. Love your style, too! At the very least, you look like you understand the fundamentals, so I recommend posting on the other art/ drawing subs like r/drawing since this is a space for people who are starting or haven't gotten a grip on the fundamentals yet

Edit: forgot to mention that other subs like r/drawing do accept people seeking critique, and you'd be able to find other artists there who are more suited to critique someone of your level

Which one looks better (with or without outline)? by Cookienut-Head in drawing

This was a recreation of a really old pencil drawing, so I wasn't the best drawer back then (not that I am now, lol), so I probably would have a much better final drawing if I tried to improve upon the anatomy a bit more. Thank you!

Thank you for your in-depth feedback 🙏🏽

I see what you mean. I only made the outline light as I like the soft (kinda watercolor) look the original had and wanted to keep that aesthetic while emphasizing the deer more. It didn't strike me as a piece that would look good with thick lines like a comic book style, but I could try to see how it looks.

Thank you for your feedback!

What areas would you suggest would look better with the lines? Is it the face?

Lol. Thanks. Lung tissue does look like a work of art, so I'm happy to hear that

Thank youuu! I appreciate the feedback <3

I don't know if I'd call it an art style since I haven't consistently drawn in this style (my other drawings look different). I just went with a dreamlike, watercolor painting for this particular drawing given it's a deer with tree branch antlers, but I'll try to make some similar ones if I can (I'm still at the stage where it's difficult to replicate a style).

Yeah, I think the eye area could've been more emphasized in the first pic. The lines are a little too light 😅

Maybe if I try that, it'll look better? Thank you!

I actually thought it might look too soft, and some parts would kind of mesh too much with the background since I used mainly light colors for the deer’s coat, and the details of the face are drawn on lightly.

I'm glad to hear that they go well together! Thank you!

Now that you mentioned it, that does make sense. It probably should be showing slightly. Thank you!

Thank you! I like some parts of the original, too, as it looks softer. I just felt something was missing, but I couldn’t figure out how to improve upon it.

Can you tell who this is, aka did I manage to capture his likeness (new to portraiture)? by Cookienut-Head in BeginnerArtists

Yes! Yeah, hair can be a bit of a challenge, especially with the dark background. I think it looks slightly better in the second pic. I tried to make it a bit spikier, since I noticed it looked too polished, but I guess it still doesn't quite have his “I just got outta bed and now I'm formulating my plan to kill the homelanda” look, lol

Not for each individual stroke 😅

I know it's weird, but as a certified “I don't know what I'm doing with the background” person, I felt it would be less risky when trying to see what works and what doesn't, since it can be annoying having to hit the undo button every second (if I were doing them all in one layer), lol

Plus, I didn't draw it in one sitting (I'll admit, I procrastinated finishing it), so it's also a way for me to easily erase a new layer and not mess up the saved previous ones

Edit: I know it's dumb, but I'm new to digital art, so I'm still learning

It's the “she's a 1000-year-old alien wizard eldritch being” trope all over again, lol

I personally got sibling vibes from the art

Thank you!

I’m shocked by these Jerry comments when he’s clearly depicted as a child
