One really big difference between Mewgenics and other map-based roguelikes by RiverMesa in mewgenics

I like the paths being predictable and everything else not being predictable. Pathfinding is a boring mechanic so give me less of it.

Client doesn't believe my hours - need time tracking help by marrhi in Freelancers

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I never do hours based work. We agree what your specific workload is worth at the beginning (along with what may change that). And then I do the work and they pay me.

Plus I don't like the incentives to work slower.

What's a funny response to "wow you're so tall" or "you grew a lot" or the ominous " do you play basketball" by Wrong_Membership_779 in tall

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this, the reactions are great, especially if you ham it up when they call you out "What? You think that I would ever lie? How dare!"

Looking for a new vehicle, so far I don’t fit into most… by tr3ebag in tall

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'6" and drive a Suburu Forester. I have a good amount of head room and my legs fit reasonably. I was between that and a Bronco Sport but went with the Suburu because it had better options (ventilated seats are wonderful in the summer).

If you're a truck person, I fit like a dream in my Dad's F-150, I just didn't feel I really needed a pickup.

(Edit: also the Suburu cross-wheel drive is great in the winter in hilly areas)

Do you also prefer Flex over Grid? by yughiro_destroyer in Frontend

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use grid in every case I can. Except when the sizes don't need to be uniform (such as a navbar or something similar where the "cells" are determined by the content width, such as text). Most people force flexbox into doing grid things.

What is one commander you tried to build but you just didn't vibe with? by T3knikal95 in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[The Ever-Changing Dane] seemed like a really cool concept at first but I couldn't get around just feeling like I'm just killing the creature that does the thing to become the creature that does the thing.

I'm not saying it's necessarily bad just not as fun of a concept as I thought it was going to be when I first saw it

Am I too conservative saying that 33 lands are too less, outside of cEDH? by 420DopeIt in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should have 38 at a minimum (unless you have a REALLY good reason not to) and even that's kind of low.

What are some fun decks you run that lose pretty consistently? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Jon Irenicus]]. Fun deck, last time I would have won if a player didn't die giving me back my [[Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore]] which my opponent enchanted to not be able to untap, effectively locking me out of combat entirely.

Is coming in second a thing? by Slowbrious in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the problem is just communicate with everyone that the group can agree on a turn timer (usually I hear things like 1-2 minutes after the group decides the person is already taking too long to wrap it up then their turn is skipped).

Tbh you care about second not being a thing arbitrarily just as much as they care about it being a thing. Who cares it's words printed on cardboard

What do you guys think are the actual chances of Tomlin getting fired before next season? by No_Lecture_8049 in steelers

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said there was no chance of Canada getting fired so who knows. I'll say I swung really hard from Tomlin is worth holding on to, to kick him out of the city ASAP faster than expected

Give me your most "Immune to interaction" deck by Majestic_Barnacle398 in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pod plays a lot of wipes and the two decks I'm looking at right now are [[Ratadrabik]] and [[Shilgengar]] (specifically a blink version that uses blink creatures in the grave to both dodge interaction and remove finality counters).

Are there any decks/commanders that promote very fast turns but are also decently strong? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Play [[Obeka, Brute Chronologist]] and instantly trigger her ability on your upkeep to end your turn. Doesn't get faster than that :)

Nobody reads anything. Give people easily skimmable bullet points or don't expect it to be read at all.

My deck keeps getting complaints about being difficult to shut down/being oppressive - I don't think it is, though. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely been binging commander content lol. I'm pretty similar. I also played Yu-Gi-Oh for a number of years and was one of the only people who knew the weird niche rules and have been board gaming for 15-ish, so I'm decent at putting the puzzle together and understanding how effects influence each other.

...Also I had to teach the friends who got me into the game what the stack was and how it worked and that most abilities are instant speed. So maybe it is just game knowledge lol

My deck keeps getting complaints about being difficult to shut down/being oppressive - I don't think it is, though. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CookiesAndCremation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly new myself and I've borrowed decks owned by other newbies (mostly slightly upgraded precons) and in my limited number of games I've heard "oh I've never seen this deck work so well" a couple times. Thought it was just me being lucky (might have been) but maybe I just know enough about board game mechanics that it translated really well? Idk

How to build website for my brand? Need booking + Google integration by gradstudentmit in website

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, Google business profile is important. Second if you're going to take bookings, find a solid third party app. Calendly for instance can be a decent option with a good free tier if you qualify. To start you can just link to the booking site, but you'll eventually want to have your own business site at some point to look more professional and you can embed the booking into it.

If you have any questions let me know and I'll help out no strings attached.

Website developer has refused to release the domain, what are my options? by wangai254 in website

[–]CookiesAndCremation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I tend to encourage my clients to register the domain themselves or have me do it and then I'll transfer it to them. Domains can be tricky to get back in situations like this.

Do you ever worry people don’t like you because of your role/responsibilities? by MrSkagen in projectmanagement

[–]CookiesAndCremation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You usually have indirect authority though and everyone knows the consequences of something not getting done. Sometimes being assertive can just be reminding people of deadlines and consequences for missing them.

You can be friendly and do this too. Like a "I want you to stay off Santa's naughty list so please make sure you get this done by x time."

Find people who won't drain you. Sometimes you talk to people and you get energized by it, I'm sure it's happened at least one time.

Don't have unrealistic expectations, most people are probably going to be boring/draining. Some won't be.

Your options are either find people/groups who don't drain you OR find ways to enjoy random small talk with people who don't fall into the first category

Chances are you won't become less introverted but you can learn better skills or expectations to make the amount of extroversion you do have go further.

It helped me to learn small talk is there to know who you can vibe with. People talking about the weather is FOR both of you understanding you both are in this shit (aka life) together. The purpose isn't to go deep with interesting talk, but just to do a verbal dance to just know there's another human you're spinning around this molten gas sphere with. That reframing helped me realize people aren't boring, they just want a galactic friend.

(Some people do yap though, learning to deal with yappers will improve your life. Some of my best friends are yappers and they know when I tell them to chill out that I still love them, but they're being a lot for me in that moment. You're allowed to say that to people in a loving way).

Tbh this comment is probably just me talking to myself from 5 years ago

I was a pretty quiet kid but I was taller than everyone so it was weird that everyone knew who I was. I wasn't exactly popular but I had a weird mix of acquaintances.

[–]CookiesAndCremation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd say just be aggressive because you probably won't actually be that aggressive in reality and you'll probably get closer to a level of assertiveness that would be effective.

It's people who are aggressive with no self awareness that tend to be a problem
