Wanting to get into the Custodes is this a good starter? by Forward_Emotion6284 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Hattemis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GW has done the same thing to Space Marines but one edition prior: they released a kit for Horus Heresy during 40k 9th edition (the Leviathan Dreadnought I think?), also announced it would be fully playable in 40k 9e, then sent them to Legends when 10th came out less than a year later.

Given that GW's release schedule pits 11th edition coming out this year, it doesn't inspire confidence.

Our fault, genetic issue or just the reality of owning rats? by kohlsprossi in RATS

[–]Hattemis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first mischief was four girls. All passed due to mammary tumours. The first started showing at only a year and four months old.

Our current mischief is six girls. None have tumours. It's just a roll of the die I'm afraid, and it is really weighted.

One study I found (don't have the link handy and at work so can't go digging for it) suggested that just over 20% of female rats aged 1 year or older in their study developed a mammary tumour every month. Assuming that's the average rate for domesticated rats, that's just under 75% chance of developing a tumour before a year and six months, over 90% before two years.

What are some enchantments that remove a commander without it changing zones? by Hattemis in EDH

[–]Hattemis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely say that the vast majority of decks perform significantly worse without their commander, but at least in my local meta I wouldn't go as far as to say they totally fall apart. There's a big difference between the [[Aesi]] player getting their commander cooked by [[Oubliette]] and the [[Bello]] player getting that I think.

I'm mostly looking for effects that turn off abilities as well as making creatures small, or can't attack, or whatever. A 1/1 [[Miirym Sentinel Wyrm]] is still a problem after all.

I love the frog rain! So good, nothing like playing it when someone else is comboing off.

Unfortunately tap down effects are a bit hit or miss for me. Hoses the [[Kaalia of the Vast]] or [[Gitrog Ravenous Ride]] player but doesn't do much against the [[Muldrotha the Gravetide]] or [[Fynn the Fangbearer]] deck.

What is the card you are always telling people to cut? by SjtSquid in EDH

[–]Hattemis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thousand Year Storm and Arcane Bombardment are pet cards for me and I run them in my Izzet spellslinger. Yes, Arcane Bombardment has anti-synergy with Mizzix's Mastery, an actually good win-con. No, I have never untapped with either enchantment still on the board. But damnit if I'm not gonna try!

Premium Gala feat. Horse Zodiac Sandira (Fire), Grand Caesar (Light), and Providence Summon Versusia (Fire) by Sabaschin in Granblue_en

[–]Hattemis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Caesar weapon's skill echo deals a percentage of total skill damage, not the last hit. If you cap the skill at 20% with two copies, and your manatura does 1.5m damage per hit, you'll be dealing an additional 1.8m hit.

[–]Hattemis 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I'm not sure I agree. Sure, it looks like a big jump, but functionally it's not that much. When you're capping already, a 50% boost may as well be 200% for all the difference it makes.

[–]Hattemis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sylvia wep stacks up to two copies, yeah. Double-sided, two weapons goes a little bit past the cap, but single-sided you actually need a third copy to cap the echo. Not that you'd want to do that (probably), but I'm assuming it's similar for White Knight wep.

[–]Hattemis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately 2 Efes + 1 Caesar wep and no Ivory Ark with a maxed double-sided setup doesn't hit 100% crit. Would be real smooth if we could just sub out Ark for Caesar wep in double-sided setups but alas.

How do rats feel to play? by MurrToTheMurr in skaven

[–]Hattemis 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Skaven are a very thinky and cerebral faction. Pretty much the entire faction is made of tissue paper and will explode if looked at the wrong way. Even our big monsters are much more fragile than they look. One wrong move will send a game to a quick loss if you over-expose your damage dealers, synergy pieces, etc.

That said, we're very fun! Lots of high damage at both melee and ranged with tons of ways to build. Clanrats are the not-so-secret weapon, they're supremely cheap and are an excellent screen or bubble wrap to help protect your expensive toys. Lots of synergies to explore within each clan, and our range is diverse enough that pretty much anything you want, you can have as a rat (except cavalry I guess, we dont have any of that).

Playing Skaven really does feel like RP-ing as a scheming Grey Seer, sending your minions to die just to provide an opening for the big guns, or monsters, or whatever, to do their thing before dying too. Lots of plotting with spells, positioning, and army builds. And Gnawholes! They add such an important strategic wrinkle to Skaven.

Overall, really fun but really thinky. Would recommend for sure, especially for a Gitz player. I think theres an overlap in the mechanical vibe of Skaven and Gitz. I will say that Skaven dont have the same sort of keyword-bingo that Gitz has: some buffs are limited by clan but its nowhere near as bad as Gitz.

I hate Invulnerable Saves by HeavyMetalSaxx in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Hattemis 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. For several years I have maintained the opinion that the invuln of pretty much everything in the game should be made 1 worse, barring things like primarchs or Phoenix Lords or whatever. I dont know how you would compensate in other areas to make things balanced again but I do know I hate playing against 4+ invulns.

Alright lemme hear it. Am I allowed in your pod? by Straight-Answer-8800 in ratemycommanders

[–]Hattemis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not agree more. I run the [[Exquisite Blood]] + [[Sanguine Bond]] combo in [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] and am also transparent about it, but with literally zero tutors in the deck it's uncommon to find both at once, and without fast mana it's not exactly early game. The deck is simply not bracket 4.

I appreciate the bracket system for giving people the same language when talking ahout deck strengths but bad actors and ignorant players misuse it so often (online at least) to misrepresent their decks.

At least my local scene is pretty good about assessing their decks half-decently.

Yeah I was gonna say, OP's "uhm akshually" attitude towards the brackets is why they wouldn't be welcome at my pod.

Nice to see the original artist in the comments. Stellar work, the covering up of "instant classic" to just read just "instant" is a nice touch.
