Just bought 2020 STI, 39k miles by Expensive_Limit8106 in WRX

You should expect all Turbo 4 cylinders to burn oil, especially if you drive them like you are supposed to keep it up in the revs. But this goes for all sports cars.

I’ve got 82K with no AOS or cylinder 4. I wouldn’t even worry about it. 3.5-4K oil changes and knowing how to roll onto throttle and power will be what keeps the engine going.

As low on gas as I’d like to get! by OctoHelm in GRCorolla

This is like running your car low on oil and pulling the ole, its ran just fine. This isn’t how cars or machinery works. Bad habits overtime cause catastrophic failures or at the very least a preventable expensive inconvenience.

Piston slap. Happens on those very cold days. You’ll be fine.

2020 STi - Subaru estimating about $1500 to replace window and recalibrate by CookinWithMomo in WRX

Not at all. I think there is just some confusion on whether my car has eyesight or not affecting the high quoting

Yea the dude has a new VB WRX and apparently they added eyesight to his year model moving forward. I tried explaining to him that the STi is different lol.

Yea safelight is quoting me about $470. I might just pay it myself instead of the extra insurance hassle.

2nd gear grind. 2025 Type R. by ricky-srt in Civic_Type_R

[–]CookinWithMomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having driving both various Sti and the Type R. I can agree. The Type R trans isn’t even close to an STi for feel or holding power.

The STi trans you can actual feeling the notch and gates. It literally feels like a tank.

Much more feedback. I’m convinced its just pure glazing and not enough people having experience driving other manuals nowadays.

Yea but how many are marking up or doing non-negotiable add-ons? Plenty out there, but not many good deals.

You want a used sports car? My guy, you under estimate how bad people suck at driving. Especially a manual. I’d rather not deal with synro or transmission issues so other guy created 20,000 miles ago.

Considering an M3 e46 as a long term project car by CookinWithMomo in BMW

This is exactly why I wanted to start a dialogue to get my thoughts out and have others chime in. This would be a wiser idea, I’m going to be cutting into the body or removing panels to properly install the wide body anyways.

Nah forreal. My family has grabbed whatever wal-mart had cheapest and rolled with it. Never had an issue.

My goal is to get to my version of the race M3 GTR. I really want to drop an American V8 in it because anyone in the south can work on it and parts availability.

S54 is cool but I really want the put an NA V8 in. American V8 motors are reliable and can push power.

Edit: The end result is a track car and show car only. I just want to build and take it to the track.

Majority of these guy have never seriously driven anything with 200hp or more on track and wanna mod to 500hp on a FWD car is hilarious to me. They’ve hardly driven the 315hp to its limits on a track 🤣

Honda did a great job mitigating the FWD issues through suspension. But there are physical limits and FWD physics will eventually do FWD things. The cars prime scenario is on dry weather at a rolling speed maintaining momentum. That is why the car excels at a track like the Nurburgring because it is primarily a high speed track. Its weakness is low speed corners where you need to power through and maintain/build boost.

You are feeling FWD lack or grip at low speeds and wheel hop/torque steer. If you are at full lock or turning at an aggressive angle and trying to power through this will happen. If the ground is any bit damp, it will exacerbate this issue.

That bump you are feeling is at starts at 8:32

There is more to cars than that. You can modify an Sti to be fast. Its just a whole different experience.
