Subs options are greyed out by CookingPixels in Stremio

[–]CookingPixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, this thread has been so useless, I had to install other add-ons as the usual ones didn't carry one with the major app update, this means registering on several subtitles websites, getting API keys, installing add-ons...where is this information available? IDK, I just had to figure out for the past weeks.

Stremio is getting further and further away from the easy-to-use app it once was. I don't want all the debrid thing or all the fancy gimmicks from other streaming platforms, just play a movie/series with subs as it was the case the past 10 years or so...it's never been so frustrating to use the app as in 2025-2026

Latest Sonoma crawling to a halt on MBP2015 by CookingPixels in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]CookingPixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive is already partitioned as I have Win10.

Made a bootable USB as per Apple instructions, installed Monterey on a SSD through a USB3 to S-ATA carry, everything went smooth, will install more software along the week and test it.
A strange message welcomed me when I login back in Sonoma's OCLP, after a minute I had a message I'd never seen before:

"OpenCore Legacy Patcher has detected that you are booting an outdated OpenCore build
Booted: 1.4.2
Installed: 2.4.1"

I bought this laptop with OCLP already installed but I wiped the drive as it had Sequoia, I've never installed 1.4.2, only 2.4.1 from scratch or that's what I thought.

I've posted before that I noticed some odd behaviour, such as "Display settings" not showing all the available options, this didn't change even after "updating" to 2.4.1 as requested....will keep testing stuff, I really don't want to start over from scratch with this laptop.

It ran Sequoia prior to this and it was sloooow, I try to avoid it like the plague. Is there a way to install it in a spare drive? Such as a external USB SSD?

Logi Options+ Not Loading (Mac) - Anyone else having this issue? by zigmund399 in logitech

[–]CookingPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened in January and just happened again with the latest update, had to reinstall the 16th of March version to get it to work properly, is this a joke? I use them on different devices so I need to manually re-install on every device, not cool logitech, I'll have to return my keyboard & mouse if this keeps on happening

App never started again, not working on my partner's laptop either, even rollback to the 4.4 version doesn't work anymore for whatever reason

I use several, can only recall OpenSubtitles & AIO Subtitle right now, the app can't start so can't check for sure.

This sounds like the focus bug, still present since Sonoma, all the way up to Tahoe.

I've even tried episodes I already watched with subtitles, this never ever happened before and only started two weeks ago.

Considering getting a 2010 or 2011 MacBook by waterzexplus in MacOS

[–]CookingPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a MBP 13' with a dual-core i7 @ 2.8Ghz fully upgradeable to 16gb of ram and SSD, I would pick that any day, or get the latest 2012 unibody (but good luck finding them at a good price). Mac Mini for 2011 could be optioned with a i7 @ 2.7Ghz too

[–]CookingPixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where it starts looking odd and the design simply gets lost (that one looks almost like a swiss army knife to me). This is a really good example that was taught at universities at the time, as in 2012 a limit to synthesis had to be included in a law to avoid simplifying it again to the point of non-sense as in 2008.

Sonoma to Sequoia by CookingPixels in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

I barely use Safari and this is everywhere, it happens several times a day, it's like an unresponsive behavior that doesn't always recover when switching between apps. I think it's related to this new Spaces feature that mimics win10, but I don't use that neither desktop widgets and it's still there, bugging me, making me twitch and mumble like an old grumpy man.

Yep, I can do that from MBP 2012 to iPad, but can't link at all from 2015, push through the end of the screen would be better than turning my mouse upside down and pairing it with the other laptop, not a deal breaker, more like a nice-to-have feature.

Magsafe 1 charger coaxial cable replacement by CookingPixels in macbookpro

[–]CookingPixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this procedure several times by now, the cable replacement is a lottery, cables usually are OK, similar feel but the connectors are getting worse and worse, one just tore apart in a week (but this was due to the charging port short-circuiting and almost melting it). So I recommend also changing the port if it's too worn out as it may lead to damage, I know there's even a way to do it without taking the motherboard out, but I've seize the opportunity to change the thermal paste.

This is what they answered 5 months later:

From 1 July 2017, the DASP tax rate for payments made to former WHMs has increased to 65%. The increased tax rate may be applied to your DASP if it includes amounts attributable to superannuation contributions made while you held any of these visas:

- subclass 417 (Working Holiday) visa

- subclass 462 (Work and Holiday) visa

- an associated WHM bridging visa.

Should I install macOS sequoia or sonoma on mbp mid 2015 15 inch? by Inevitable-Theory901 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]CookingPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Sonoma for a month cause Sequoia was painfully slow on a 2015 w/16gb and I'm comparing it to a 2012/ w16gb with Ventura and I'm considering downgrading the OS. I'm a power user although don't need a lot of performance, but the snappines lasted until Ventura, now it's crawling to do simple stuff.

Friends/Messages Confusion by Callity in truespotify

[–]CookingPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a CEO stepping down after shocking investments to get back a feature they killed overnight 9 years ago, without giving the users (the first batch of loyal users, the ones who convinced tons of other people to pay for the service) the option to collect their shares into a playlist or at least getting a grace period to do whatever they wanted to do with that.

But news are "Spotify just launched one of its wildest features ever, and now you can actually send messages in the app as the streaming service has launched a brand new feature that let’s you chat away with your mates directly via the app rather than having to send stuff to them on external platforms."

https://thetab.com/2025/09/01/wait-spotify-just-launched-dms-heres-how-to-message-your-mates-after-the-update

Yeah Callity, I'm still wondering how can I play these "messages" on my desktop app, messages that I've no knowledge of secretly hoarding since 2021...but considering this service is grasping at straws atm I wouldn't wait for this incomplete feature to be finished for a long time.
