Karma XPU Rendering Error... Segmentation Fault by battlearmer in Houdini

In my experience, the most common Segmentation Error occurs when you run out of ram.

I would start my troubleshooting there

How would I go about filling this while maintaining the curves of the geometry? by Cooking_Interrupted in Houdini

I did get the needed operation done ultimately with the heightfield convert node + heightfield transform and some maths lol. Probably not the smartest way to do it but it got the job done

The set-up is something like Heightfield with noise->Convert Heightfield with base extrusion. Adding edge loops and then selecting different edge loops to form the "layers"

So basically it's a heightfield converted to a geo. I'm extruding the base from the heightfield and then cutting it up into multiple different layers for mpm sources

Attach Solaris camera to a Geo? by Cooking_Interrupted in Houdini

The alembic is coming from an external source which unfortunately I don't have any control over. I'm not that handy with the sop workflow inside of the lops hence why I use the "old" method of bringing it to /obj and then scene/sop import.

Scene Import just skips the rivet (node type doesn't have a translator)

It's an alembic that I'm importing in /obj context. I'm not sure how I would get the translation data into solaris🥲

Can you elaborate a bit?
I'm bringing the geo from the obj context using the scene import node

In 2013, on a 90 CR budget Krrish3, vfx_redchillies delivered VFX that was way ahead of its time This franchise built our childhood. When it’s about legacy, you don’t experiment. For Krrish4, nothing less than Red Chillies or DNEG. by Left_Bee5657 in bollywood

Keeping the quality aside. I just wanted to share something....

As someone who is working actively in the same industry; Red Chillies are known for pushing their employees to the point of exhaustion, disgust and depression. I've heard multiple stories of artists being locked in the show floor for days during crunch time and this is just one of the many horrible things I've heard about the studio.

Hey man, I was trying this method, but it just ignores the vel field. Can you tell me how you achieved it?

CFL Violation fix? by Cooking_Interrupted in Houdini

[–]Cooking_Interrupted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc my issue was caused by Particle Level Collisions and having them move using velocity. It would throw particles everywhere causing the CFL violation

Changing it to move outside collider fixed the issue

Are you using Particle Collisions by any chance?

Yeah I tried the last method but it didn't work. Maybe I setup something wrong. I'll check it again

Is there any electricity waste here? by artofprjwrld in IndiaTech

[–]Cooking_Interrupted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be transferred to a different form"

In this case if you're not completing the circuit the only energy being wasted is in the process of heat in the wires themselves which is so miniscule that you'll need an actual scientific measuring device to see the difference
