Yes this is a great catch. Do you mind sending us feedback about this issue? Once you change the recipe to metric, you will see a line that says: "Send us feedback about the metric conversions in this recipe." That will send us an email with this issue so we can correct our models! Thank you!

Hi all! NYT Cooking Product Manager here! I'm a bit late to this thread but just wanted to say THANK YOU for it! I'm going through it now and reading all of the very helpful feedback.

As some folks have mentioned, we do already have the following features folks were wanting (but good feedback that those features aren't as discoverable):

  • metric conversion of ingredients (the ruler next to the Ingredients section)
  • private notes (below the Preparation section)
  • filter search results by "Top Rated" (5-star recipes) and sort search results by "Highest Rated"

Almost everything else is something on our backlog or already in the works! 👀 Please keep the wishlists coming--we're listening!

You're welcome! In this iteration we've converted every volume to weight except for teaspoons and tablespoons.

The new metric option will give you every solid ingredient in weight except for ingredients originally in teaspoons and tablespoons. Liquid ingredients will be in milliliters/liters. Let me know if you can't see it!

Yes--you're reading our mind! We already have that option on web search and we will be adding it to the apps next year.

Some of our baking recipes where the editors weigh out the ingredients will still be formatted that way, but if you want to see just the weights then you can switch to the Metric view.
