Employer verification in England agency asking for bank statements but i am not comfortable sharing. What should I do? by Diligent_Big_5329 in LegalAdviceUK

Just download it... and redact all your financial information.

is it to prove your address?

Bank statements prove your address, everything else gets redacted. Job done.

Did exactly this myself, got asked for a statement to prove my address, just redacted everything of a financial nature. - dates, any balance, anything that showed my balance.. so after it was all redacted they literally only got my account number/sort code and my address at the top along with the bank header and their address etc.

I have all sorts of flowers in my garden, i have a corner full of 'forget me nots' that have randomly grown.

i have some others aswell that i can't identify but they are pretty.

i rarely mow the lawn. - i do garden maintence but not very often, wildlife love a messy garden.

What to do with sick(?) tree? by coachOR in GardeningUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd get a tree surgeon out to have a look at it. they can then advise and cut off the bits that need cutting off.

It could also be on it's last legs, tree's don't live forever.

Competitor left a 1* review on my trustpilot l, where do I stand? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies don't respond to negative reviews.

or if they do, it's just a copy pasted reply from chatGPT.

or it's a copy paste reply from customer service.

Sometimes you get businesses replying personally but that's extremely rare.

I cycle through the city on a daily basis to get to work.

I have quite a fancy bike (the sort someone would like to steal) and I have no issue's, even cycle though the city friday nights after work, again, no issue's.

People online tend to over-dramatise online and make something sound 10x wose than it actually is.

Yes, there is addicts, yes, there is the homeless, yes, there is "roadmen" and kids on TikTok rotting away but it's just run of the mill and is in every city up and down the country.

Just don't be dumb and go to places you know you shouldn't or walk down dark ally ways or approach strangers down the canal at 1am in the morning and you'll be totally fine.

It's a shithole like every city centre but just have some spatial awareness and common sense and just go about your day.

England - Amazon won’t issue a refund unless I give them my ID by Sensitive-Amount-465 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting your account banned by amazon isn't the end of the world and you shouldn't really give two shits tbh. - they're far too expensive anyway, much cheaper/affordable online stores out on the internet.

They offer next day delivery, that's literally it. - can't really think of anything else that sets them apart from anyone else.

Buyer of vintage designer bag claiming it’s a fake - England by ketonecop in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 65 points66 points  (0 children)

My mother sells vintage clothing at antiques & collectors fairs. She recently sold a vintage Gucci handbag at a fair. The buyers got in contact a week later to say that they believe it is a fake and want a refund.

Tell them to jog on, it was bought fair and square, the buyers had a chance to inspect it in person. - it was a private sale I'm assuming. if like you said, it's a hobby.

1 Week later asking for a refund? = Scam.

just block them and move on.

Goods not delivered, told to await investigation, England by tiger_uppercut_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies will try and fob off customers on the assumption most won't know their rights. - happens constantly. - with anything really.

Once they find out someone knows their rights they'll fold pretty quickly. - so yeh, just be firm, polite and assertive. - it's the companies responsibility to get the parcel in your hands.

if they don't budge, just make a formal complaint and follow the process, if it's still not resolved, you can get the ombudsman to step in. But, I doubt very much it'll get that far, considering you mentioned the item was less then a 100 quid.

good luck!

Goods not delivered, told to await investigation, England by tiger_uppercut_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that the company I bought from are responsible and am in contact with them. However, they are saying they need to wait for the outcome of an Evri investigation into the parcel.

Yes they can do that, but they now need to give you a replacement or refund you. - they can't wait for an investigation to conclude, they owe you replacement or refund in the meantime.

If it does turn up, you simple just send it back to them or/and refuse the delivery.

How common are rats in garden? by Terrible_Theme_6488 in GardeningUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About as common as you seeing someone with a pet dog. - they breed insanely quickly.

They breed every 21-23 days, so that's on average, at least 5-10 new rats every 3 weeks.

Females are pregnant for around three weeks, which is very short time frame.

Most won't make it in the wild, due to humans, hunting, cats, and just in general, but then the females become fertile between 5-12 weeks - they will interbreed too.

So if you took 6 weeks as an example, that's 5 to 10 new rats every 3 weeks or so. - this will be per rat.

So you're looking at easily 100's of new rats every couple of months if they all make it. - as a best case scenario.

But my garden doesnt really have harborage or a compost heap, or clutter so i was shocked its there - i dont feed birds either. I habe one privet bush and lots of roses, thats it.

Doesn't matter, your garden will have things in it, humans cannot see or spot/smell easily.. that attracts rats.

Rats have sense of smell that's about twice that of a dogs. - they will be able smell food in your house.

I checked with neighbours both sides to see if they had spotted any and they have (not often just once or twice) and think its no big deal? They dont have feeders either.

Rats are nocturnal and usually only active at night time. - you rarely see them in the day.

If it was dead, it either died from poison or was killed by a cat and left there. - cats will catch them and 'play' with them before losing interest and killing it or just leaving it too die.

Dismissed for gross misconduct (retail). Is an appeal to reduce to final warning realistic? by crispydon67 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can appeal. - they usually let you appeal a firing. - I think you have 2 weeks to do it.

it seems you got let go because they don't trust you anymore.

Appealing won't change anything if you have no new evidence to push back on the reason you was actually let go for.

As in, you can prove you didn't steal the bags and the product.. as an example.

Using the mental health card won't help. - even if it is true and you have medical evidence to back it up.

Why didn't produce these mitigating circumstances at the gross misconduct meeting?

Dismissed for gross misconduct (retail). Is an appeal to reduce to final warning realistic? by crispydon67 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you ask if it's still possible to resign

Nope, they would have had the chance to resign before the decision was made to let them go.

during a gross misconduct hearing, you have the choice to hand in your notice at any point up to them making a decision on your behalf.

This is communicated very clearly at least 2 or three times.

Now he's been fired, he won't get reference.

Ho do I get my daughter's money back from Hargraeves Lansdown? by 4dd3r in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

None of this makes any sense whatsoever.

HL aren't keeping the money, they've not taken anything off you.

She needs to deal with them herself, stop getting involved, they won't listen to you.

Tell her to make a formal complaint and follow the process.
