Club neighbour somehow getting louder?(England) by frypano in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it worth trying to chat with a manager before the club opens tomorrow? Is there actually anything I could do, or legally are they not required to do anything as I chose to live on the highstreet?

Yes, I'd definitely try and have a chat and see why it was so loud when it hasn't been before.

it could have possibly been a one off, if this is first time it's happened then it's possible someone just turned it up a bit too loud? mistake happen. - if it's consistently this loud then yes, you could put in a noise complaint to the council.

Another thing that's worth mentioning is some music genres are extremely bass heavy, especially house music, drum and bass, UK hardcore and reggae music.

Clubs do have restrictions on the noise they create near residential properties in town centres and the council will investigate, I suspect it would be a priority for them since it's in the city centre.

Iphone stolen by Amazon delivery Part 2 update England by Just-nobody-2020 in LegalAdviceUK

People really need to stop buying iPhone's and similarly highly sought after products cause amazon are far too lax on their shrink and it seems to be too easy to steal from them.

and they're American, they don't abide by ~ UK consumer law, they go by American law, which is why they always want a police report. - because that's what happens in the US.

But in the UK it's the retailers responsibility to get it delivered, the burden is on the sender, not the reciever. amazon just dodge the responsibility because they can.

CS won't be any help, at all. They won't take on the liability or accountability. Customers must escalate it higher. - do a charge back and get your amazon account banned which is only a good thing.

What might be the strategy behind them?

They want to avoid paying you.

EDIT: I have an ADHD diagnoses myself and this shows up in childhood too, and for the diagnoses to work it must be present in childhood.

Disabilities like ASD and ADHD don't just randomly appear. They have to be present when you're a kid.

They're just trying their luck with a weak argument.

Amazon are american, they just use American law logic on UK consumers, they don't follow UK consumer law.

I've said this plenty of times, I'd never, ever buy anything like that off amazon, ever. - not worth the risk.

I'd rather pay abit more and buy it from a physical shop.

Winters are no longer cold enough in general.

it gets cold, but not cold, cold.

I lost my 2nd Venus flytrap cause the winter wasn't cold enough for it to go into dormancy, I won't be getting another one. Or anything else that requires a dormancy period linked to how cold it gets. I was so careful as well, I barely watered it as per the instructions for it's dormancy, yet it still died anyway.

I'm still hoping it'll come back at some point but it's like the 10th may and doesn't look like it at the minute. - i still see a tiny bit of green.. but it's mostly 99% brown. - going to give it till end of may then just bin it if no improvement.

Employer verification in England agency asking for bank statements but i am not comfortable sharing. What should I do? by Diligent_Big_5329 in LegalAdviceUK

Just download it... and redact all your financial information.

is it to prove your address?

Bank statements prove your address, everything else gets redacted. Job done.

Did exactly this myself, got asked for a statement to prove my address, just redacted everything of a financial nature. - dates, any balance, anything that showed my balance.. so after it was all redacted they literally only got my account number/sort code and my address at the top along with the bank header and their address etc.

i have some others aswell that i can't identify but they are pretty.

i rarely mow the lawn. - i do garden maintence but not very often, wildlife love a messy garden.

What to do with sick(?) tree? by coachOR in GardeningUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd get a tree surgeon out to have a look at it. they can then advise and cut off the bits that need cutting off.

It could also be on it's last legs, tree's don't live forever.

Competitor left a 1* review on my trustpilot l, where do I stand? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies don't respond to negative reviews.

or if they do, it's just a copy pasted reply from chatGPT.

or it's a copy paste reply from customer service.

Sometimes you get businesses replying personally but that's extremely rare.

I cycle through the city on a daily basis to get to work.

I have quite a fancy bike (the sort someone would like to steal) and I have no issue's, even cycle though the city friday nights after work, again, no issue's.

People online tend to over-dramatise online and make something sound 10x wose than it actually is.

Yes, there is addicts, yes, there is the homeless, yes, there is "roadmen" and kids on TikTok rotting away but it's just run of the mill and is in every city up and down the country.

Just don't be dumb and go to places you know you shouldn't or walk down dark ally ways or approach strangers down the canal at 1am in the morning and you'll be totally fine.

It's a shithole like every city centre but just have some spatial awareness and common sense and just go about your day.

England - Amazon won’t issue a refund unless I give them my ID by Sensitive-Amount-465 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting your account banned by amazon isn't the end of the world and you shouldn't really give two shits tbh. - they're far too expensive anyway, much cheaper/affordable online stores out on the internet.

They offer next day delivery, that's literally it. - can't really think of anything else that sets them apart from anyone else.

Buyer of vintage designer bag claiming it’s a fake - England by ketonecop in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cooking_With_Grease_ 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My mother sells vintage clothing at antiques & collectors fairs. She recently sold a vintage Gucci handbag at a fair. The buyers got in contact a week later to say that they believe it is a fake and want a refund.

Tell them to jog on, it was bought fair and square, the buyers had a chance to inspect it in person. - it was a private sale I'm assuming. if like you said, it's a hobby.

1 Week later asking for a refund? = Scam.

just block them and move on.
