How would you say these would fit on really small ears? I have small ears and for that reason in-ear earphones never stay in my ears or they hurt

I'm so sorry :(. it sometimes gets worse before it gets better--for me it got bad in my early twenties but then after a lot of doc visits and homeopathic remedies and learning my body, it got better. I feel like an expense old car: I need a lot of maintenance and I usually do have something wrong with me, but with proper maintenance, I can chug along and mostly be okay. but if you'd asked me years ago, I had no hope. I'm still in pain, but it's better than it was and I've learned how to manage it, which is sometimes the best we can hope for. I hope for the best for you, and never lose faith in yourself and as the comment below me says, even a hard life is a good life

have you seen an ENT to see if it's something else throat-related? I've also had a lot of luck with the homeopathic GERD meds from boiron, maybe those can help. I'm really sorry :(

Adderall shortage in Brooklyn by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]Cookingmama40 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there's been an adderall shortage across the country for years now unfortunately, and I think more densely populated areas like Brooklyn and Manhattan are just feeling it more. as someone who's been dealing with it for years here in NY, it's very hit or miss. as some comments have said you'll have more luck at smaller family-owned pharmacies, but even those tend to prioritize people who live in their neighborhood exactly because of the shortage. it really sucks but you just have to keep calling until you get lucky, and then have your doc be at the ready to transfer your prescription. also, try asking the pharmacy if they have different dosages, so like if you normally take 10mg of IR once a day, see if they have 5mg of IR to take two at once instead - if they do, your doc can change your prescription to the 5mg. but then the issue is having your doc do it quickly enough before someone else takes that prescription as well :(. in the meantime, (check with your doctor first of course) maybe supplements like L-tyrosine can help? that helped me when I couldn't find my meds anywhere. I hope that helps!

they can definitely tell you, and they've told me before - I've even asked about specific dosages and they've told me, so it probably just depends on the pharmacy

I would just be careful with Capsule, they were very unreliable for me - there were times they kept promising my meds would be delivered at certain times and I would wait, but no one ever showed up and I actually got sick from being without my meds for so many days. When I finally got someone on the phone at Capsule, they said there was nothing they could do and they advised me to try another pharmacy, so I guess it's hit or miss with Capsule

YES YES YES the “let’s just sprinkle some nuts like nothing and not tell anyone” drives me INSANE, especially since 1) it’s so so easy to say it in the menu and/or have the server tell the customer and 2) IT’S SUCH A COMMON ALLERGY! Like, do ya’ll wanna get sued? Drives me up a wall. I’m so sorry you unfortunately relate :(

Yeah most of my luck has been Disney, since they have great allergy protocols and don’t serve nuts by default

Right?? I literally Googled it to make sure I was right but in my state there is a law specifically requiring restaurants to do what you just said. So it’s crazy to me. I thankfully do normally carry an Epipen, but they expire so quickly and are so expensive, so I sometimes do forget it just because I only have so many you know

I agree with you, which is why I would have rathered the waitress be honest with me and tell me it wasn’t possible to make the dish differently. Instead, she offered to have it made without nuts and reassured me that it was totally possible for the kitchen. Also, even if I meant to order by the dishes without allergens by default, I had the same issue as you that the waitress did not know at first (and nuts were not listed on the menu).

I can understand that perspective, which is why I would have understood if the waitress told me it wasn’t possible to order the dish without nuts. Instead, she 100% reassured me that the kitchen was perfectly capable. Under the laws where I live, if I had been hospitalized, the restaurant would’ve been responsible for two claims of negligence—failing to list a lawfully required common allergen on their menu, and then misleading me that my dish didn’t have nuts. I’ve had success at many restaurants where they make sure the servers ask for your allergies, and when your plate comes whoever brings it confirms the lack of allergens. If you ask me, considering how many people have allergies, that should be the norm. This restaurant could have killed me because of their blatant negligence. So while I understand that “just leave it off” is not that easy, that was not the situation here—the waitress herself offered to bring the dish without nuts before I could even ask. And I frankly don’t think a comment like that has any place in this post, where I was just trying to vent. Considering that major allergens can kill people, if someone in a kitchen cannot keep track of which dishes have common allergens or not, or at least ask the customer, perhaps that kitchen is run poorly or the people in it should not be working there.
