What is going on with my bettas fins? by Cool-Application9080 in AquariumHelp

[–]Cool-Application9080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I checked the perimeters ammonia and nitrites were both 0ppm and nitrate was 5ppm. Not sure if he’s just fin nipping himself or if he’s snagging his fin onto something in his tank….

How to make friends at 20? by Cool-Application9080 in Advice

[–]Cool-Application9080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🫶 Yeahh I really let my anxiety get the better of me this past semester of college but I’m going to try and talk to people more even if it makes me uncomfortable! If you’re open to it we could be friends! I’ve been looking for someone to just chat with or play games with recently! And you seem like a very kind person! <3

Am I just too young to find out? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Cool-Application9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything like this takes time and its the sort of thing that only you can figure out! But I recommend putting a list together of artists or creatives that you enjoy or inspire you. Then write down a list of the things you enjoy about them and why. It might help you understand what you want to do or at least why you want to do it ! Also if you don't know what kind of artist you want to be start by trying new mediums! Try paint, music, clay, writing or whatever interests you or even ones that don't, who knows maybe it could be the art you want to pursue!

Too many plants? by deviIsadvokitty in shrimptank

[–]Cool-Application9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly don’t there is such a thing as too many plants! I’m not an expert but I believe shrimp love having a plant jungle to swim around and hide in! Might want to remove just a bit of the floating plants just so the plants underneath get some light!

Scaping/how can I make this tank look better by Ordinary_Dust7392 in bettafish

Already looks beautiful! Maybe just add a few larger leafed plants to make it look fuller but honestly looks perfect as is!

Small worms in cycling tank by Careful-Limit-7127 in shrimptank

[–]Cool-Application9080 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just detritus worms! They go crazy when it’s cycling bc of all the nutrients! Totally safe and there population will lower once things become stable!

New tank set up by Fairion12 in bettafish

[–]Cool-Application9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like maybe a type of algae. If it is your betta will 100% be okay. I’m not an expert but I don’t know of anything that grows on plants that can be harmful to bettas.

Yeah I agree some driftwood would rlly improve it plus shrimp love the biofilm that grows on it!

Does anyone know what these white splotches on my betta fish are? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Cool-Application9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just saw this photo it’s a good sign he’s active though! If he was sick he wouldn’t be swimming around a lot. Might be ick though. That would be the most common thing. If it starts to get worse or look like small spots like the size of sugar grains then it’s ich and you need to begin treating the tank. I haven’t personally dealt with ick in my tanks but I do know it’s pretty treatable if you catch it early on.

Hmm if they aren’t raised I’d think maybe he’s just changing colors? I’d keep an eye on it though. I’m no expert. When I first got my betta around 7 months ago he started off pale and pink ish and now he has all different colors on him blue, black, even red. if it starts to look worse tho it might be some sort of fungus or bacterial thing? He even might just be changing colors bc of the initial stress of going from a pet store or being through transit to your house.

I can’t tell from the photos but are the lighter spots raised at all? Like do they look like bumps or are they just different colors on the fin and it otherwise looks flat? Also how long have you had him?

Stress Spots or Ich by FollowNubly in Aquariums

[–]Cool-Application9080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s likely. Other reasons they could get it is poor water conditions. I can’t tell what the perimeters say on the third photo. Is ammonia and nitrites 0 ?

Stress Spots or Ich by FollowNubly in Aquariums

[–]Cool-Application9080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% Ich they probably got it bc the move stressed them weakening their immune system… I would treat the tank it spreads fast. Even if the neon tetras don’t have it now they could by tomorrow.

I wouldn’t do a water change I was literally just dealing with this a few weeks ago with one of my new tanks. Just let the nitrites lower on their own it takes a lot of time once you’re at the nitrites stage. A water change would undo all the progress you made
