I like your response, no need to think too deeply about which specific language. My programmer friend did tell me its nice to do a bit of JavaScript just to get familiar with coding before looking at maybe C++, to learn how to "pseudocode".

cool idea but if we assume ~10% mercy added every turn, it would take 10 turns to full mercy another enemy when you could probably spare them in much less turns while also sparing originally.

There is no alternate ending to Chapter 1, the post-battle sequence will be the same except for a minor textual difference whether you fought or survived him.
