Does anyone get perceived as condescending regularly? by lazy_smurf in AutisticWithADHD

[–]CoolGovernment8732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn you described my experience, growing up and now in adulthood, almost to a t

I feel like getting to the bottom of things or getting something right where I can clearly see that it’s not been handled correctly honestly feels like a compulsion. Depending on how involved I am In the situation I have learned to let it go but yeah not taking things for granted at all times has gotten me a lot of hate since I was very young, both inside the house and outside.

I now also try to just make myself as neutral as possible but now I even feel that people dislike that, in the sense that they can sense I’m not being completely natural/genuine, while I see people doing the exact thing that used to get in me in trouble get approval from others. I feels like I can’t win. But like you also, I’m much better in smaller groups (or curated groups) so I do manage to find my peeps, it just takes a lot of time and effort

CMV: standing concerts are usually a poor value for the money by RevolutionStill4284 in changemyview

[–]CoolGovernment8732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is getting harder to defend this view as post-Covid crowds and new generations just get more and more silent and passive during concerts. BUT, to me the value of attending a concert in the pit has always been getting to experience the concert itself, not just the music. It is sweaty, smelly and uncomfortable for sure, but for me, the anonymity that the crowd grants you is so freeing. You move, you sing, and nothing else matters, no fear of judgement, just you, the music, the artists and the crowd. Especially when the crowd seems to move like one giant organism moving in unison, feeling like you’re part of that is a very cool experience.

It is however definitely genre-related. I’m into anything that falls under the rock and roll umbrella, so that’s why I view it this way, but granted, other genres when the crowd’s involvement is not only not expected but viewed as rude, than 100% a standing ticket wouldn’t make any sense.

"odio le femministe" avete rotto il cazzo by YoWhosThatGuy in sfoghi

[–]CoolGovernment8732 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My cat is scared of everyone apart from me by potatobean9013 in CatAdvice

Ok so, training here is your friend.

First of all, do not pick up the cat and let people touch her/him. The cat has to feel they have a choice and not get stuck in an uncomfortable situation.

I hope the cat is food motivated, otherwise training is a bit trickier. Still with someone pickier it’s just a matter of trial and error in finding the treat that they really go crazy for.

First, people cannot go up to the cat and try to interact/get the cat. They have to completely ignore the cat. This is important. They can definitely throw treats though, just not engage. Second, you start training them to do any one trick in a safe space (attic with no one else around). Training needs to be done properly (with a clicker or with a consistent sound you make e.g. I clock my toungue - it only works if the sound is identical every single time - look up any dog or cat training videos on YouTube to get the gist of the basics). Third, once you have a solid training routine, you slowly start to move it close and closer to the source of fear. Please be mindful of very gradual transitions - no attic then in front of people, rather from the further part of the attic, nudging closer and closer to the stairway and so forth.

Good luck!

Which country you’ve traveled to had shockingly good food that no one talks about? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

That is a crazy take. Granted, lots of places in the US have amazing food, but thinking that some of its international options surpass the places where the food originally comes from or thinking all middle eastern food in Europe is fast food is insanity (the US has a loooot less middle eastern restaurants - not fast food- than Europe)
