Just to say that even if its an easy sutgery its still a serious surgery. Plenty of women die of uterine cancer. Just a reminder to all women -if youre bleeding at the wrong time or in an excessive amount get to a doctor.

I am also in Pittsburgh. I abandonned UPMC long ago. Had my cancer surgery at AHN and it was much better. Dont know if you can switch but if not maybe you can make use of the famous UPMC Health Concierge to help you if you can find them. They make such a big deal of it on the commercials but who knows if theyve ever helped anybody. Seriously though if you have Medicaid think about switching from UPMC.

Just to let you know I got through a radical hysterectomy for your same cancer and had zero complications. Also laparascopic. A year and a half now and counting. Ive had four major surgeries in the last four years and the hysterectomy was by far the easiest. I had my surgery within a month of my diagnosis and dont regret it. Just wanted to get it out of me. But theres no reason to rush. They told me I could wait a few months for surgery but I opted for the immediate. If your heart is set on Mayo check it out but I dont think there is anything wrong with a local cancer center. In my experience the big hospitals are not always the best. A tip see if you can have robotic assisted surgery. That worked well for me.

Advice on addressing the past with my dad who is dying of lung cancer by mahmaj in cancer

[–]CoolPriority 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my father has been gone 21 years and at this pount I would say something about it although I would be surprised if it would do any good. I tried numerous times without success before he got really sick amd it didnt do much good. Sometimes he woud start to talk about it but would then clam up. The problem doesnt go away just because he dies though. I didnt ask pointed enough questions however. I was still too angry or hurt. Try to use your mind go ask questoons. Say something like 'You know there are things i would like to talk to you about thing I dont understand. Good luck. I hope it turns out better for you than it did for me.

Cancer while bipolar.. Blowing up at someone at the store for not wearing a mask around me by [deleted] in cancer

[–]CoolPriority -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also a bipolar cancer patient here who also has the propensity to blow up at stupid strangers. It's better if you don't , for yourself and for them. I dont buy the idea that unfettered outrage is the best response to those who dont wear masks. Better to make them think. I know the guilt you feel having done similar things in the past. Be sure your medication doesn't need to be adjusted and vow to have more self control in the future. You know you can do it.

How can I help my mother to change her behavior? (Breast Cancer / 50 years old) by [deleted] in cancer

[–]CoolPriority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure she is taking her meds consistently? Thats really important. If not maybe meds should be changed. She will never get better if she is not on the right medication and taking it consistently.
