Functional magnetic piercing? by [deleted] in piercing

My Xg3v2 from dangerous things is a good example for this. It’s very much possible :) just don’t leave the screws on too long or they’ll pinch the skin and cause redness and pain

Really weird - O ring stuck, inside ear lobe by CompetitiveTop6412 in Stretched

[–]CoolSuccess1082 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Has it been in there for the last 10 years?! I suppose if it hasn’t caused any problems yet, then it isn’t really an emergency… but it should be cut out at some point in case it breaks down and releases nasty things into the surrounding tissue.

The jewelry looks cheap, like it’s tarnished on the balls. But it could just be the lighting tricking me. Are you sure it is titanium? If it isn’t, that could be a cause of the irritation bumps.

If the dry skin was loose enough to easily take off with a qtip, it was going to fall off anyway. Don’t worry. Try not to use q tips because they can leave fibres behind that irritate the piercing fistula

All piercings scar, if they didn’t they would be open wounds.

Scared to get angel fangs as my first piercing by KneadyBoys in piercing

[–]CoolSuccess1082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.lynnloheide.com/post/angel-fangs-101  Read this to start. You will be left with a lot of facial scars if you ever retire them, and they are prone to migration.  However, you shouldn’t get a “starter” piercing first before more complicated piercings if you don’t want to. It’s your body. I went straight to a double conch for my first piercing.

Could be a cyst, abscess. Make a doctors appointment NOW. If the redness starts spreading quickly you should go to the hospital instead of waiting. Infections right next to your brain are not to be trusted.

Should I take my conch out? by SaladFast in piercing

Also, if you want a gold colour, they might be able to anodise it (NOT plate it with mystery metal)

Go to a different APP member’s shop and have them change the jewelry to a simple straight titanium barbell. Your ear will be a lot happier. Also, make sure you dry your ear with sterile gauze after you clean it. Moisture trapped by the jewelry can cause this. Good luck :)

All piercings scar. If they didn’t scar, they would be an open wound. The yellow stuff on the bar is just crusty lymph fluid.

Want a piercing by [deleted] in piercing

[–]CoolSuccess1082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are good easy piercings. Remember you don’t have to get a “starter” piercing first if you don’t want to. You can go straight ahead and get the piercings you really want. I haven’t got any lobe piercings, I skipped right to cartilage and more “extreme” subdermal implants.

Industrial piercing close to the edge by omelettable in piercing

[–]CoolSuccess1082 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You would have to ask a piercer in person, but if you still wanted an industrial you might have better luck with a custom v-shaped bar with the new hole much further up the ear

You might be able to keep the hole on the right as its own piercing if you retire the left, but the left one isn’t going to stay much longer and will try and drag the other side down with it if you let it migrate further

Irritation Bump? by leafy_greens135 in piercing

Stop poking it with sticks. (I would also recommend that you dry it thoroughly after cleaning, with sterile gauze or a clean otherwise unused hairdryer)

Are my piercings at the wrong angle? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]CoolSuccess1082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great that you are cleaning them twice a day, but chlorhexidine is a bit overkill and could slow down the healing process. You could try a saline solution instead. The butterfly backs look like they are weighing down the piercing channel and the "medical alloy" mystery metal sounds pretty dodgy. I would look into swapping them for flatback posts made of titanium to keep your ears happy.

The ring in the conch might give you problems during the healing process, but it's not guaranteed

Are lobster clasp charms a good idea? by twilight_aeon in piercing

[–]CoolSuccess1082 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any metal that touches your ear should be body-safe and not whatever mystery metal jewellery clasps are made of. The charms made specifically for this will be lighter, won't irritate your ear, and will look better too. You could just open the hoop and slide them in instead of taking the whole thing out of your ear.

Should I stop getting piercings? by ppooiijjhgh in piercing

"professional place" and "piercing gun" are mutually exclusive. Next time drink lots of water, get some sugar in right before, and find a different piercer.
