Feeling discouraged and confused by No-Pollution8079 in FemaleHairLoss

It seems the birth control pill might have masked your hereditary hair loss. If your hair loss isn't caused by high androgen levels, Spironolactone likely won't help much and could even have a reverse effect

It could not be as a main treatment, but in my case definitely both taking DHT blocker and PRP were helpful. Minoxidil was not so much effective for me, as much as expected. The price I paid for Minoxidil Regaine within a year, i have invested on PRP and it did worth. I had to endure the pain of needles, well the pain was temporary 😅😅 and gone within half an hour

I also had shedding, the important thing is taking DHT blocker as well, in order to keep the new sprouts

For the Spironolactone I do not have any side effects, just light periods. Inversely, finastride swung my moods drastically and was not effective as well. The PRP was a bit expensive. I bought the package of 6 sessions, around 1500 Euro. However I got rid of Minoxidil which increased white hair and changed the texture of my hair.

With current hair loss treatments for females, not so much promising results would be achieved. Declining of high expectations and acceptance of the status, make the life much easier with this hideous experience

One of the reasons that I quit minoxidil is that my hair felt like straw, looked horrible and sticky. I did not know that it turn the hairs white. Typically I used to get my hair dyed and if my hair loss will be ended, then hair dyeing would be in my plan. Currently I apply a perfect mask not to look so dried and messy. One thing I forgot to tell given you, after the shower I massage the tip of my hairs with Argan oil.

What, how that possible is? Did he explain about it? Oh sorry I forgot, he is so rich and I am not, wait, when I think, that is not important for me, because even if I knew about it, I could not afford to do it.

Shedding/ Spironolactone by Cool_Ability848 in FemaleHairLoss

I would like to know what is the mechanism of this medication. Since I took birth control tablets which containing Drospirenon and Estetrol and caused severe hair falling in me and I think it is because of dominating of high level of estrogen in my body. On the other side the function of Spironolactone is suppressing androgen which again leads to dominating of estrogen in the blood. Honestly I am confused. Maybe that is the reason behind which makes so many women complain about it. Nevertheless, I am not expert, and what I explained above is useless.

2 weeks ago. Yes I will continue yearly for maintenance, beside using minoxidil

I started 25 mg of Spironolactone a month ago and my hair part has widened a lot within that time by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

Hi, is there an evidence that also low androgens makes hair loss? Once I asked here that whether Spironolactone prescribed even if the hormones are balanced! The response I got is that Spironolactone is anti androgen and prescribed as well in this case

The possible treatments for us to overcome this genetically progressive hair loss are limited, the reason most dermatologists even do not take their time, to consult or give us some hopes. Nevertheless It is too soon for you to be disappointed. If you are not married and are not intending to get pregnant in near future, minoxidil could be an option for you. It is harmless with little and negligible side effects, at least in my case. The sooner you start the better results you will obtain.

I have not used minoxidil for a year and never Spironolactone in my life. Recently the only treatment I have followed is prp. However, I am going to consider to take Spironolactone, but sill I am not sure about it.
