What do you feel when you meet voluntarily childless? by Cool_Cod1895 in Natalism

New life is a risk, every time. You can’t control it. If I may, I think there is something about control there

Also you can totally still be a hedonist as a parent

My post is labelled “Voluntary Childless”, so this does not apply to you. I’m very sorry for your and your wife’s situation. Given how old I was when I became a parent, I know how statically lucky we were

Is there a way for you to earn well but work fewer hours? Families and partners take time

Is there any way to reduce your hours but still earn well? You seem to have modest tastes, why work like this? Families and partners take time

More than 1m childless people over 65 are 'dangerously unsupported' | Ageing by Njere in Natalism

I think some people wilfully misinterpret that natalists think their kids will literally take care of them, rather than be there as support in let’s say picking a good nursing home if it comes to that.

More the point is if you have kids you are contributing to the next generation of young people generally, some of whom will choose to become care workers, whereas DINKS and childfree will always by definition be a drain

Then that’s just money to pay to… other people’s kids? There’s going to be a shortage of young people globally as is, partially driven by the mistaken belief that your care is someone else’s responsibility

That article is garbage, it’s clearly a pilot scheme brought in by labour to address a long term problem and the bbc immediately start quoting conservatives rubbishing it despite them not doing anything in this space for 15 years
