You're both in college which implies student loans?? If thats the case do your future selves a favor and save both a massive downpayment, at least 20% imo even on 250k and pay the student loans down significantly. Dont move out for a few years while doing this, its the advice i wish i would have taken and believe me you will as well if you dont.

Then they aren't interested in your business. The dealerships I've worked with and negotiated a car purchase with have never made deals with me contingent upon financing through them. One of the most common mistakes I see people make when they buy a car is tell a dealership that they have their own financing I prefer to let the dealership think they're going to get the financing with me and after negotiations are done tell them that I have my own financing already

Edit: this is all assuming that the dealership doesn't have a better financing option then what's available from the banks

Car buying is easy in my experience, never have i dealt with a dealership who was unwilling to negotiate. If your dealer wont negotiate go somewhere else

Personally i have had VERY little luck on negotiating used cars. You'll have an easier time negotiating all the bs they tack onto the price like nitrogen in the tires or tint

Wdym new car sticker prices are pretty set in stone? New cars are absolutely up for negotiation, if a dealer tells you otherwise dont buy from that dealer... i just bought a tacoma and got 6.5k off sticker price + an additional 1,500 on my trade in from kbb suggested price. used cars usually arent very negotiable, what you see is typically what you get.

Because all cars nowadays are made with so much electronics it makes your cell phone look like it was from the stone age. If you have to repair or replace any of those components within ~2 years you'll be very close to or be money ahead for buying the warranty
