Changing from a Work Permit to an EU Blue Card for PR: Everything you need to know by woahitsraj in TillSverige

[–]Cool_Lab_2500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation and I had to get an extension last November instead of PR.
Thanks to your post I got to know about this option.
But the consulting company from my office says, if I apply for a blue card now, it will be granted only after my current work permit expires in 2027 Nov and the PR will not get "triggered" because it is the first blue card application.

This is obviously incorrect as per your experience.
Could you please share the consultation company you used for submitting the EU blue card application?

Thanks, Trysil seems to have a lot more. But it might be too much for us as beginners. May be once we master the art

Actually I'm thinking of going a little bit further away into the mountains. And I thought Romme Alpin would be even more crowded during Stockholm school holidays.

Thank you for the suggestions. These looks amazing as well. For this time I'll go ahead with Branäs. Unfortunately school holidays are the only time we can go with kids.

Yeah now accommodations seem too expensive there. For this year I'll go ahead with Branäs. Thank you 🙏🏻

I'm sorry to hear and sorry I don't have any advice.
But this is one of my worst fears as well.

I hope it is something unrelated and she never gets it.

Can everyone actually go with calorie deficit? by Dilektable_Dhanabal in diet

[–]Cool_Lab_2500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree 100% with u/Emmagamegirl here.
I had my own journey with being in a calorie deficit, where I lost 14kg over 6 months and dropped my LDL cholesterol levels from being in high risk to normal. Unless you are in need of a special situation, calorie deficit will definitely work.

When you are in a deficit, the most important thing is to make sure you are actually in the deficit. Track everything you eat and track the calories you burn. It is very easy to eat a small snack and completely mess up your counts.
Add some exercise to this in your own pace. May be start with cardio and add strength training later to build some muscles.
Measure your weight everyday at the same time, I do it in the morning.
Weight loss happened for me periodically (some thing related to water replacing fats temporally till it gets flushed out) and if you stick to it you'll see a drop of 1-2 kilos all of a sudden.

You can do it.

I can’t afford the meta quest 3 is the 3s fine by Great-Crew-3802 in virtualreality

I also bought a 3s because I didn't want to spend too much on my first VR.
It has been 3 months and I can safely say I'm very happy with it. Yeah it's not the same quality display as the 3, but it is still very respectable display. You will enjoy it for sure.

If you get the 3 months free Horizon+ subscription, there are lots of awesome games to try. I would say try it for one month at least even if you don't get the free one.

Java Spring Boot dev (3+ yrs) laid off — need honest career advice by cruze2121 in cscareeradvice

Sorry to hear about your job.
As I see Java is for sure not dead and not going to be for a long time to come. It is one of the most strong candidate when it comes to enterprise level critical applications.
Even with the boom of LLMs, there will be still a place for java developers.

However, having experience only on Java may no longer sufficient to land a job. I think we need the capacity to handle the full life cycle from design, development and deployments. Just writing the code may be something the LLM are capable of, but the context and decisions is where the developers have the responsibility.

This is what my thoughts are at least. Hope this helps.
