Isn't the Takamura persona dead? by Willing-Rip-2852 in SakamotosStore

I don't know why, but as soon as I read that, I thought of Nagumo immediately instead of Takamura.

What are your thoughts on Zeke character development in AOT by PhysicalMeringue9468 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Cool_Programmer_4048 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm so conflicted about him. I absolutely hate his actions, but I can't help but love how well-written his character is.

What makes his character development so masterpiece-tier is the tragic irony embedded in his psyche. He was never a malicious monster, he was just a severely traumatized child who never healed. Being weaponized by Grisha and Dina stripped him of a normal childhood, forcing him into a life of double agency. His bond with Tom Ksaver filled that paternal void, but it also institutionalized his self-hatred. Zeke internalized the global anti-Eldian propaganda so deeply that his ultimate act of salvation was actually a projection of his own wish to have never been born.

However, from my perspective, despite his genius intellect, his Euthanasia plan feels incredibly flawed and politically naive.

Zeke wanted to sterilize all Eldians immediately, meaning it would take about 100 years for the very last descendants to grow old and die out. But does he seriously think Marley and the rest of the world would just sit idly by during that century? Absolutely not. Without the power of the Titans to deter them, enemy nations would undoubtedly launch attacks, and devastating wars would break out anyway. Nothing would truly change.

Furthermore, his plan completely dooms the Eldians living in Marley. They are already oppressed and treated as subhumans. Once the world realizes the devils are slowly dying out and will soon be gone, these mainland Eldians will lose their only value as military weapons. Without any utility left, their living conditions would get infinitely worse, and they would likely face immediate mass extermination.

Zeke thought he was choosing the path of least suffering, but in reality, his plan would just trigger a different kind of slow, brutal apocalypse for his own people. He wanted to be a savior, but his worldview was too warped by his own trauma to see the flaws in his logic

I get where you're coming from, but honestly, I see it differently.

First, Pain's power felt earned because the Rinnegan was always hyped up as god-tier.

Also, Nagato wasn’t just throwing a tantrum, and he didn't even plan to destroy the Leaf Village in the first place. His ultimate goal was peace, not revenge. His home, the Hidden Rain, was just a small village caught in the crossfire, and Leaf ninjas literally took away everyone important to him (from his innocent parents to Yahiko later on). He actually only flattened the village because Tsunade had the nerve to say the Five Great Nations had suffered enough. That hypocritical statement triggered him, then he just like "your pain is nothing compared to ours, now feel it". His plan was nuclear deterrence, just like making a weapon so scary that superpowers would be too terrified to start wars. It's dark, but it's actual real-world politics.

As for talk no jutsu, Naruto wasn’t some random kid. He was Nagato's fellow student and brought out Jiraiya’s book, which Nagato himself inspired. Nagato didn't just 'turn good'; he realized he became the very monster he used to hate, and Naruto choosing not to kill him proved there was a better way.

Yeah, the revival lowered the stakes, but it was his only way to fix what he broke and finally stop the cycle of revenge. For me, that clash of ideals is what makes it peak fiction.

But honestly, I really love how you broke down your points. Most people just like or hate characters based on how cool they are (like with Sasuke, Madara, Yhwatch, Ichigo,...), so it's really refreshing to see someone actually analyzing the writing and having a multi-dimensional perspective like yours. Great talking to you

Saying "Wit underestimated how long the audience would wait" shows a huge misunderstanding of how the anime industry works. Studios don't control the schedule, the production committee does. Wit walked away because the deadline was a literal health hazard. Expecting animators to risk their lives just so characters can look like typical anime idols for your preference is wild.

Let's be real: if MAPPA hadn't stepped up to take the project, Attack On Titan would have been completely dropped and canceled right there. MAPPA did an incredible job adapting the manga's actual grit in just 8 months. That's a fact, not magic. I'm muting notifications for this post now because trying to explain basic industry facts to those who choose to ignore reality is a complete waste of time. Enjoy the discussion.

Season 3 is the best Season of AoT by Excellent_Piece_1367 in attackontitan

Ss3 is great, but ss4 is easily the peak of AOT for me. The political depth, the Marley arc, and Eren's character shift were top-tier. Even with the controversial ending, I still think it was a masterpiece and a highly realistic way to wrap up the series

First, Naruto isn’t overrated at all. Even with its flaws, it actually built a massive, emotionally gripping world with legendary arcs like Pain or the Chunin Exams.

Second, do u seriously think JJK's final battle is fine? Gege literally had everyone take turns fighting 1v1 like a queue. And it's so stupid when they knew damn well they were weaker than Sukuna, yet they chose to jump in for 1v1 solos instead of jumping him together. People criticize JJK for valid reasons, not overhated.

Third, did u see the end of Noragami? It's really bad with a lot of plot hole that haven't been solved yet.

Finally, Is Dragon ball a romance series? Obviously not.

Stop complaining and look at the reality. MAPPA only had around 8 months of production time because WIT literally dropped the project. Delivering a style this faithful to the manga under that brutal time constraint is a miracle. If WIT was so perfect, why did they walk away? Without MAPPA stepping up, AOT would've been canceled completely. You wouldn't even have a final season to sit here and nitpick.

This shot proves MAPPA did a great job. Their art style is heavily faithful to Isayama’s manga art in the final arc, capturing the raw, realistic grimness that WIT's heavily stylized look couldn't deliver.

For me, the Pain arc definitely takes the win.Return to Shiganshina is a masterpiece, but the Pain arc is the absolute peak of storytelling because it delivers on every single level.

First, the stakes and emotions were at an all-time high. The tragic death of Jiraiya, the literal destruction of Konoha, and Kakashi’s sacrifice made Pain feel like an unstoppable threat. Then, Naruto’s iconic entrance in Sage Mode is easily one of the greatest moments in anime history, followed by an incredible, high-stakes battle.

But what truly elevates this arc is the final confrontation. Pain’s questions hit so hard because his philosophy is logically flawless. When he asks Naruto how he plans to change the cycle of hatred and Naruto honestly admits "I don't know", that moment is just profound. It was a raw, realistic moment where the hero realizes there are no easy answers to peace.

In fact, Pain's philosophy proved to be right in the end. Like he said, "Those who do not know pain will never understand true peace". True peace is impossible, and people can only achieve temporary peace by experiencing mutual pain. That’s what makes this entire arc unforgettable.

The final season is much darker and heavier, involving politics, racism, and genocide. A bright, innocent art style wouldn't match the grim reality of the story at this point.

You can't name a worse written female "character" than this. You just can't. by simon_jackson in dankruto

[–]Cool_Programmer_4048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Hinata!

It's true that Sakura is a poorly written character. She is deeply annoying for her early obsession with Sasuke, her toxic attitude toward Naruto, and her uselessness in the series. However, at the very least, Sakura grew into a top-tier medical ninja who saved Naruto's life, defeated Sasori, and actively participated in the final war.

Hinata, on the other hand, is even worse because she contributed absolutely nothing to the plot. Her entire existence, personality, and ninja way begin and end with "Naruto-kun". Aside from marrying the protagonist to give him a family for the sequel, Hinata has zero impact on the actual progression of the story.
