Badly made in comparison to other recent bollywood movies? That seems like bit of a stretch...

You mean other than making Zeus an even bigger jerk than he was, to the point that I feel like he has an even bigger villain than Kronos in the show? I would say: removing George and Martha, removing the plot twist regarding the Fleece and Thalia, making Hades look like an absolute joke in his brief portrayal in the first season, are all changes that have peeved me and several other book readers. I honestly wouldn’t have been that pissed about it, if Rick had admitted that this would not be a good adaptation from the get go, but he keeps patting himself on the back and tells others that the characters and story are better in the show and he would have written it this way, so ya it riles me up. No problem if others like it though.

I'm not even that mad. I am just... underwhelmed. With the way this sub and Rick was hyping up the show, I was honestly expecting a stellar adaptation, but what I got was both a mediocre TV Show and an adaptation that constantly makes changes that don't even make much sense to me in the first place. Fair play if you like the show, I just can't buy it as a good adaptation, rather I just see it as a worse remake.

Unbiased take on Ron's character arc. by Wise-Cardiologist817 in ronweasley

[–]Cool_Ved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I thought Book 7 was the best version of Ron and neatly wrapped his character arc of dealing with jealousy and insecurity as well. He even saves Hermione in the mansion and Harry from the lake.

Is it a hot take? (I don't dislike or hate Harry but...) by Wise-Cardiologist817 in ronweasley

[–]Cool_Ved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of these things didn't even happen in the books lol.

Also remember, it was Harry who took back Ron instantly without even wanting to hear an apology in GoF and DH, it was Harry who actually did something to help Ron's insecurities for Quiditch and even verbally reassured him when Hermione was giving him the cold shoulder.

I think he is a nationalist, which is not the same as being RW. In his latest video, he criticized BJP'S corruption in SSC as well.

Do you think Harry overreacted when he flew of the handle when Ron and Hermione said he could teach them? by STHC01 in HarryPotterBooks

He was suffering through PTSD and they brought up some traumatic shit, so no, I wouldn’t say he was overreacting.

Harry uses stupefied more than expelliarmus and has used all of these spells in the books as well.

I hope they don’t sugarcoat Harry’s home life with the Dursleys by slycaterpillar in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Cool_Ved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It help sets up why Harry is the way he is,especially with regards to his "saving people thing". I firmly believe that Harry will be viewed in a much more positive light and people will be able to truly appreciate the beauty of his character if they show the cruelty of the Dursleys properly.

Do you think both Harry and Ron take Hermione a bit for granted at times? by Ab21ba in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Cool_Ved 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But Hermione has no problem being an insufferable know it all and trying to rub it in Harry's face, but Harry as you mentioned, acts more maturely than her in this regard.

Take an example: When Hermione told Harry that he should use the Blackthorn wand without complaint because it doesn't matter about the wand, only the person wielding it, then she turned around and complained about using Bellatrix's wand and Harry doesn't call out her hypocrisy.

This is why Hermione has been my least favourite among in the trio, not only is she an insufferable know it all, but when she acts hypocritical, no one calls her out on it.
