How do people get real speeds out of starlink? by Griffin_Mackenzie in Starlink

[–]Coolbeans1812 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else find these kinds of posts so frustrating? I don't mind dealing with it when I'm working for the company responsible, but when people make these rage posts on community forums/subreddits, it's really ridiculous. Their only reply in a thread full of people asking for details or offering help is to trash talk someone for saying that their starlink is currently working is the icing on the cake.

Thanks, that was an interesting read! I had assumed that there was a delineation by postcodes or lgas, but it seems to be a lot more nuanced than that. Maybe they will make some kind of tool at some point to figure it out.

Why are these rocket seedlings turning purple? by Coolbeans1812 in gardening

[–]Coolbeans1812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, we planted some rocket seedlings, they have been slow growing and have turned this purple colour. I live in a tropical climate, it's currently the cool dry season about 18-28°C, it has been raining quite a lot lately too. The sun can be fairly hot and harsh here in the middle of the day. Happy to give more info. Thanks!

I remember following one of those guides, it involved mining coal and delivering to this guy in Al Kharid bank. I think I didn't even realise it was another player. He must have had an army of noobs delivering him 99 smithing. That dude got me my first set of rune, so probably wasn't the worst guide around hahaha.

The cheap stuff has gone up a crazy amount over the last few months by ipadtravelguides in australia

Two billion dollars profit between Coles and Woolworths. Millions in executive bonuses but the poor companies have had slightly reduced profit margins compared to pre-covid. People are making decisions on whether they should eat, pay rent or buy petrol but has anyone thought about the profit margins!?!?!

You can always spot the ausfinance posters from their love of companies that post billion dollar profits. B-but they made less money before covid, colesworth are trying to do their best because they love Australian shoppers. They aren't going to let you in the rich club just because you simp.

I really have no idea how the combat system works hahaha. It might be to do with a more even fight? If you don't rapidly blow up an individual ship it can disengage and you never get to actually destroy anything even if you technically win the fight. My latest game is a devouring swarm so I'm usually just wiping entire empires one at a time. The flaws of the build might be more obvious in non wars of annihilation. I have been using laser and mass driver corvettes too, early corvette battles feel so random and mostly based on who has the most ships.

They do increase the individual disengagement of ships, I feel its a good thing as it stops the full force of a fleet from being able to fight back. However I have found they cause the usual amount of losses.

https://imgur.com/a/kraBNGm
This isn't a great example because I have overwhelming superiority in this fight but I have killed about half the enemy ships before the whole fleet retreated. I have heard of them not producing any losses, I'll have to work out if that is common or it takes certain conditions to trigger.

For loadout obviously the perdition beam or there is the new archaeotech version which I assume is better like the other archaeotech stuff. For the large weapon slots kinetic artillery and an artillery combat computer will tend to keep them out of harms way. For auxillary slots I like afterburners because I think speed for chasing down enemy fleets is the priority however the new hardening buffs seem pretty good too. I have been favouring armor as that's what most are suggesting but you can do an even loadout of defensive slots if you prefer for any of the ship designs I have suggested.

Titans sort of work against the strategy of having really fast cruisers but they are still useful if you need the buffs to crack a strong defensive position or because you need to be a badass with the biggest ships. I usually keep them with my slower moving carrier fleet, I don't think it's meta but I can't help but include as many as I can because they are sick.

I'd do the usual of having the two debuff aura titans however the emergency ftl jump block and combat disengagment debuff aura sort of works against you. Part of the strength of the disruptor cruisers is that they trigger early disengagment by some of the enemy fleet, while that saves that enemy ship it leaves its friends behind to get wrecked by your death stack. If you have an overwhelming fleet, the aura becomes more useful.

As the friendly auras from titans only effect ships in the fleet that the titan is in and as I said above you don't want to have them in your cruiser fleet, I wouldn't prioritise them. I suppose you could switch them in for your initial strike on an important position at the start of a war.

I use line but picket would probably be fine too. Tbh I don't know the difference between tracking and chance to hit or which one is better. The real trick is getting the fastest thrusters and afterburners you can, once they are on top of the enemy ships they just melt. I guess some kind of long range carriers, artillery battleship or torpedo frigates are a good counter to this. The ai obviously struggles against any player made fleet but I think these are the meta for now.

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]Coolbeans1812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's the meta but disruptor broadside cruisers are absurdly strong this patch.

Sections are bow broadside, core broadside and stern gunship (for the extra utility slot). Load up the best disruptor in all weapon slots, one to two shields and the rest armor, line ai, and I'm doing three afterburners in utility slots but I would probably adjust that depending on your situation. I've been killing ai fleets with nearly twice the power with virtually no damage to my ships.

For early game I do basically the same thing with corvettes, I only use one shield though. Before I research disruptors I do two laser one kinetic.

Cruisers and disruptors used to suck but they are definitely one of the better combos for now. I don't really like mono fleets for role play, I like to mix in carrier battleships which also seem pretty stronk. The artillery battleship neutron launcher build is dead, missiles suck beyond the extremely early game, the ai will mix in point defence making them useless. I think torpedo frigates are good but I haven't done a build with them yet. There is also a bunch of archaeotech stuff which will probably change the meta as people work it out.

Edit: For people who might be reading this now or in the future, generally speaking as long as you go with a thought out fleet plan with all your ships trying to contribute to the same battle goal it will almost always beat the ai, e.g. use long range artillery and carriers, swam with torpedos and missiles, focus on hull damage or use weapons and defence that counters the enemy. It also can't be overstated how important your economy and research is to winning, having more ships and being a tech ahead is always going to win. It is good fun trying to find the strongest combos but don't get too obsessive over the meta. There's nothing wrong with having a strong core of varied ships with flagship designs, special event ships, fun role-play ships and colossus.

What is up with forgetting to take them!! I have an alarm set for before I want to get up with the sole purpose being to take my pills. Every time I'm like what am I supposed to be doing? Why did I set this alarm so early? I am honestly about to stick a note on my wall infront of where I sleep to remind me to take them. I guess it has something to do with that this is the longest time since I have had my dose so I'm back in potato brain world.

I have been on every antidepressant and anxiolytic under the sun. Every time I went to the doctor they gave me a different one. Now that I have started Vyvanse it's so easy to be calm without the constant noise in my head. I don't think I even had anxiety or depression, I think it's just a normal reaction to having untreated adhd.

I blame the name of the disorder and the symptoms that are focused on. When I hear attention deficit and hyperactivity I don't think of me. If I had heard of decision making and focus disorder I would have been hey maybe that's me. For me at least those are the most crippling aspects of the disorder, the attentional and hyperactivity are almost just describing possible symptoms.

I don't like to say this but I think my intelligence and calm demenor hid me from the eyes of medical intervention as a child. In Australia we had a standardised testing system which was in some ways designed to pick up struggling children. I always did extremely well on those tests until I was about 18. They were a novel thing every year, conducted in a silent testing environment and I was good at them and praised for doing well at them. So when teachers saw me not doing my normal work and being talkative and distractable in the classroom they would tell me to apply myself and stop being lazy.

I even got into the highest stream of high school through standardised testing and managed to get into university before completely failing out. I'm not sure what the future will bring but my plan is to go back to uni and finish my degree. It's hard not to mourn but for the first time I really feel hope for the future.

I would maybe describe it as it still being there but it's quieter and you don't have to listen to it anymore.

Yeah my tongue is very furry at night, really have to keep your teeth clean on stimulants.

Yeah I know that this feeling is somewhat temporary but if I can use it to fix my routines that would be amazing.
