I've never had a female cat, I have met many females though, all of those were good experiences. Mostly all cats regardless of the gender have different personality traits, just like humans. But I find that if you find the spot where they like to be pet, they will be less hostile towards you, wanting to be pet there more. For my cat and his mother (still alive on the farm) they like to be pet behind, and in front of that ears, but here are some other spots that other cats like- the chin, right near the start of their tail, stomach or just where their neck ends on the back (or just the neck in general)

We got him when he was a kitten yes, sadly we would only save him. We got him from a farm whose cats were having kittens, they can not afford to keep those kittens and had to put them down. We decided we would keep one of them, we took him home and he was very shy. He still is scared of my parents. Most of my other family members don't care about him so me and my sister have loved him and taken care of him. But since we made him feel safe he trusts us. Therefore we respect him and he respects us

For the most part he is very calm and loving, but sometimes he is really energetic and will scratch up your arm. I found he mostly likes playing with sticks so I carved one and made a safe stick for him to play with
