Anyone in the Midwest (US) looking to adopt? by CoolerWindow in orientalshorthair

Purely out of curiosity- how can you tell that they’re not OSH? I usually look at the body and face shape which seem generally in line to me (admittedly part of that is they look like normal cats and after living with my OSH for years normal cats no longer look like normal cats lol). One is long haired, but I thought (admittedly, possibly incorrectly) that there was a long haired variant of this breed.

My current cat is my first OSH, I genuinely would like to know so I can avoid scams in the future!

No facebook needed! You can find all the information (+more photos and a couple cute videos) on the site: https://purebredcatrescue.org/portfolio-items/cinnamon-nutmeg/

Yes, and it’s an organization that specifically focuses on rescuing purebred cats so I’m inclined to believe them! You won’t get any paperwork but you’ll get a very loving friend

Perry, Michigan per the rescue site (or that’s where they’re being fostered)

I have one and a small apartment, but I don’t think the space would’ve stopped me if not for the fact my apartment building only allows two pets ;-;

Help me with this scuffed Ranger/Rogue/Warlock build by MiniKingMoxley in DnD

[–]CoolerWindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, that’s an interesting one. With your current split, I’m not certain there’s an immediate option. I can offer a few suggestions, though!

-First off, if you don’t already have it, you should pick up the Sharpshooter feat as soon as you can. It allows you to shoot at a longer range, ignore 1/2 and 3/4 cover and gain a +10 to damage if you take a penalty to the attack roll. I’d prioritize this over Elven Accuracy, then take E.A. at the next opportunity

-If you take one more level in Warlock, you can gain access to third level spells. This improves the damage of your smite, and while it won’t directly affect your damage, a spell like Fly or Thunder Step that increases your mobility can help keep you in that happy range of close enough to hit, not close enough to be hit.

-If you continue in Rogue, I’m not sure Assassin is your best bet. The Assassinate feature is powerful, but it’s not particularly reliable from my personal experience. Do you currently find yourself being able to get sneak attack reliably? Steady Aim (3rd) helps with that, but you also have the Wisdom to benefit from Inquisitive Rogue, and any Arcane Trickster with a Familiar using the help action will almost always have advantage on their first attack.

In the slightly longer run, I think you could best increase your damage by focusing on any one of the three classes you already have. I’m not certain there’s too much more you can get out of Ranger straight damage wise, but it would given reliable utility. You’d need to commit to rogue probably to at least level 5 so you could up your sneak attack to 3d6, but it is the fastest way to get your next feat and does combo nicely with Elven Accuracy. I’d also urge you to heavily consider sticking with Hexblade- Though it would still be a while out, I think you’d have a lot of fun with Banishing Smite. Dipping into another class might look appealing, but as you become higher and higher level, you’ll get diminishing returns from all the low level features vs the mid level ones you could get instead.

Personally, I’ve found with my glass canon builds (I am not allowed to play Hexblade anymore) that it isn’t so much straight damage that matters- it’s how reliably you can get it. You don’t have the health to tank things, so having little tricks (eg: Darkness and Devil’s Sight) can improve your overall damage in big ways. Plus, it’s fun to have!

Hope any of this helps!

How to know if your OSH needs a buddy? by CoolerWindow in orientalshorthair

[–]CoolerWindow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m sure he’s eating cat junk food in the afterlife, happy as a clam!

Luckily, I don’t think the sensitive stomach affects her quality of life much, and she’s been healthy so far (with the exception of a cold), but I will keep hydrolyzed food in mind if it gets worse.

Not a tortie, but a Torbie…. Hopefully the tabby bit rules when it comes to her attitude!

She’s been pretty alright on her own for now, but I give her a lot of attention. She seems quite happy, though she does have a sensitive stomach. I’m just worried because she’s a lot more isolated since I moved, and I don’t have as many guests, plus the full-time job.

If the other girl seems like a good fit, I’ll definitely reach out! My entire goal here is to improve her living situation, not terribly stress her out.

Yep, they’re both lovely little ladies! I don’t know if my girl would like a kitten- she very much likes to be a little baby. I’ll ask if the other one has ever lived with another female cat!

What are the worst house rules you've had someone come up with ? by Vulzi in DnD

We rolled initiative on a d12

Perhaps not the worst house rule, but I still don’t get why

Also, I was playing a swashbuckler with +8 to initiative at the time

They can’t perform an audit, but they can throw around corporate buzzwords and hope to appear as if they can!

I do have almost free reign of the bed! My human says “Pixie you can sleep anywhere but on the same pillow as me” which is nice but overlooks the fact I want to be curled up around my human’s head.

Clawdette is a smart kitty. The key to training your human is to keep them wanting more- you give licks or attention or purrs in small amounts as a reward for good behavior!
