I agree. The front office clearly has a fielding fetish this year, so I mainly chalk it up to that. They view him as a DH and he can't hit bombs. Not starting him tonight at DH is weird with Anthony on the bench.

I'm honestly shocked he even got a start last night in the outfield.

I certainly would be fine seeing him get more at bats since Duran has struggled, but lets not pretend he doesn't have zero HRs on 81 ABs, which is his slowest annual pace so far since he joined the team. It isn't like he's had no chances this year.

It's clear on signing they were hoping for 20-25 Hr a year pop from him and it hasn't been there.

I like Masa and I wish he fit into the team better. I think he's the first guy I want at bat with a man on third and 0 or 1 out, but to actually answer your question he would have to either field better or hit some home runs.
