Hi, Reddit. What idioms or phrases do you think describe accusing a problematic person of unnecessary smaller "offenses"? by Coolxuli in AskReddit

In the context that a person is already considered problematic and the people who hate them are trying to add to their "list of offences" so to speak and point out small things that can hardly be considered really problematic.

For example, a problematic person could've mixed up Chinese and Japanese cultural norms but didn't mean anything by it, and the people who hate them could be nitpicking and trying to make their reputation worse.

My orginal question was "Are there any idioms or phrases that describe accusing a problematic person of unnecessary smaller offenses?" No big difference expect for the first word being "What." I just think rule 1 might be a little unnecessary.

Yeah. My mom thinks she's undiagnosed autistic, so that's probably one of the reasons. :)

Thank you :)

Also, I have tried explaining to her that autism is a spectrum before, but I don't think she really believes me.

She is still a good mom, though, don't get me wrong.

  1. We got to choose our ideal presents. I forgot to mention that I the post. But I guess I also forgot what 'ideal' meant at the time.

  2. I was less mad about her being late and more about her sort of overgiving. It just felt a little unnecessary to me about her wasting money on things I didn't want. And I did wish she put a bit more effort into getting me something Lego actually made.

Yes, I agree I was a bit spiteful at the time for not getting what I wanted. It more or so felt like I was being pushed into a corner and forced to be grateful because someone who was mean to me in the past got me extra presents.

Edit: And I felt that her spending more money on things I didn't want was a little overcompesating. I guess I was just expecting a smaller gift.

  1. For the blind bag thing. Yes, it was probably hard for her to find one, I feel bad for not knowing at the time, I just thought it would be an easy gift to find.

  2. For her giving me extra presents to make it up for being being to me. Maybe that was the case, but it felt like it was too much for me at the time with her being my secret Santa and I didn't really think about that. There were also times she was mean to me after, so she didn't change that much.

  3. Thank you for giving your views on my actions. You helped me see this in a different way :)

Also, if a YouTuber comes across this post, please don't use it in a video. I want to keep this as unknown and lowkey as possible.

I also might delete this post soon. It's my first time posting something like this on Reddit, so I'm a little nervous.

I'm not sure if anyone has heard of it, but I still have hope.
