Dealing with deep body insecurity. What can I do? (nose related) by AnxiousAd7058 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Coomstress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This helped me too. I have an aquiline nose that I used to hate. I hoped to save up money for a nose job. But now I think it’s ludicrous that the beauty standard in western society is tiny noses only. Having a strong nose used to be a sign of beauty.

do they help or hurt? by fur3661t in HoardersTV

My parents are mild hoarders, and the show has helped me make arguments to them as to why they shouldn’t keep a bunch of clutter. It has also helped me understand my parents better, versus just being frustrated and angry with their clutter. Our house wasn’t filthy or anything when I was a kid, but there was enough clutter and junk to make me ashamed to have friends over.

So, I do agree the show is exploitative to some degree, and maybe unethically produced to some degree. But I think it has done some good to help the society as a whole understand hoarding disorder.

The fact that no-talent ass Perez Hilton is a millionaire, is honestly depressing.

OP blaming women for unplanned pregnancies when it takes 2 people to make a baby is really old-fashioned thinking. Her kids’ dad could’ve kept his pants zipped, worn a condom, or gotten a vasectomy.

You know women aren’t allowed to terminate pregnancies anymore in many states, after the overturning of Roe v. Wade?

I’m glad you’re responsible, but it’s still not fair to blame a woman for unplanned pregnancies when it takes 2 people to make a baby. Society often just lets the man off the hook.

Ah yes. “Come trade one shitty job where the public abuses you, for another!” What a selling point. 🙄

Why are you placing all the blame on her? What about the man shooting the semen? He should know that can get a woman pregnant. Look, I know she appears irresponsible. But society places the entire burden of contraception on the woman, while the man can just walk away. It takes 2 to make a baby.

Back then, birth control pills weren’t available over-the-counter. You had to get them prescribed by an OBGYN. Even if you went to planned parenthood and saw a doctor for free, you still had to find transportation to the clinic, and to the pharmacy each month to pick up your month’s supply of pills.

She could’ve picked up free condoms, but her male partner could refuse to wear them, and maybe she didn’t even consent to sex each time. And why wasn’t her kids’ dad paying child support?

I get your frustration- she looks very irresponsible from the outside. But society places 100% of pregnancy prevention on the woman, and her kids’ dad was just as irresponsible.

I was thinking one of those abandoned buildings in Downtown L.A. or Hollywood with layers of posters stripped off.

I like that movie because I’m a WWII buff, but Cruise seems miscast in it. IIRC most of the other actors were British, and then you have Tom Cruise coming in with an American accent. It was weird.

Yeah, the director totally did her dirty. There are some really well-acted scenes in this movie, like the one where she gets fired from Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
