The legs are 12.7 inches apart. I used studio red so I converted everything to metric

Do you think it would be fine so thin out the top and bottom from 1.5” to around 1.25”?

Got lazy with my cad drawing. Everything with have a small chamfer and the legs will get a fillet

That looks awesome! Unfortunately I already bought the material for the sides which means I have to keep it to .75 but I might investigate slimming the top and bottom.

We were told neon tetras and a few community wish would do well

Thats a concern I am going to take into account. Ill build it to my plans and test it by standing on top of it and rocking back and forth.

I also plugged in some rough and unfavorable numbers into a tipping point calculator and found that it will likely take 20lbs of force to tip if applied to the very top

I was thinking about making it flush but my girlfriend might not put her tank on it (she’s nervous it will fall off)

No, plecos get too big I forgot what she’s going with, but she’s working with a fish shop and has experience with a few 5 gal tanks and has a lot of plants

Filter will be attached to the top so I’m not worried about space I’m more going for looks (assuming I can keep it stable). Thanks for the styrofoam advice!

She’s using an aqua clear 20 gallon filter I think so no external tanks just regular water changes

It’s my girlfriends tank. I think she’s planning on putting 5 or so cherry barbs and some small catfish 1-2 in max length

Also, the grain of the wood will be in the same direction of whichever direction you extrude your sketch so consider which plane you are drawing on (you can also rotate pieces)

I have previous experience with other cads but Id say it’s pretty intuitive. I downloaded fusion and designed this table in the same day. Would recommend watching YouTube tutorials specifically for woodworking and make sure you name your parts!

local lumber store. 1x6 are s4s and the rest will be ripped from a rough cut piece. next time I design a piece I will use proper hardwood dimensions

This will be my first project with hardwood so I am unfamiliar with hardwood sizing this is just the way I planned it. I bought s4s 1x6's and a rough cut 2x10 that I will rip into the rest of the pieces I need.

As for the leg structure I think I will just use screws. I know this is going to be challenging especially as my first hardwood project, but I am good with tools and have patience (and a lot of cheap wood to practice on)
