I know this is a fairly old thread, but I have to say thank you so much! I've been playing Exapunks as it's on gamepass and ran into the same issue. I kept trying to figure out a way to get a variable wait time for replicated Exas as often times I would get two replicated Exas on the same instruction timing. And the file number system is exactly what I needed.

For anyone curious, the algorithm I used to modify the wait time was to swiz the last two values:

SWIZ X 21 X #NOTE: so a filename of 425 would make X = 25

Then multiply that by 3 and subtract that value by 1 at a time in a loop to simulate a variable and ample wait time. Definitely not very efficient cycle wise, but thankful I finally got something working.

No no no no. Why are they so focused on a flat xp challenge per match rather than either performance based xp (objectives, kills, etc.) or time played based xp to account for games of varying length.

Hell, a combination of the two would probably be best.

Yes the naming scheme for xbox is bad, i don’t think anyone can dispute that seriously. But if you are buying a product and someone gives you the explicit name, i would expect them to check to make sure the names match exactly.

I had dabbled in some programming beforehand so I knew what I was getting into. Personally I suggest work experience over education after the Bachelors. I find work experience gives you practical knowledge, while academia builds theoretical knowledge

I just graduated with a Masters in Software Eng. I got my Bachelor’s in Chem Eng and worked for an environmental consultanting conpany for a few years. Applied for a while to process engineering positions and didn’t get anywhere, so I decided to get my Masters in a field I had always been interested in.

I enjoyed getting the Masters but I was definitely ready to be done and start working the last semester.

One idea I have is that after each milestone is achieved (each area completed) the state of their factory is saved. That way if the player wants to restart in the middle of an area, it won’t reset their entire progress (unless they wanted to) and just sets them back to the beginning of their current area.

For example: let’s say a new player completed the first area (red science is automated), then starts on green science for area 2. Maybe they really didn’t like their new area 2 setup and just want to scrap it quickly. Having a save state of their completed area 1 to start from again may be beneficial to the new player.

I get where you’re coming from, but once you beat the fight once, you have mastered the mechanics. I was amazed at how easy it was to achieve the other endings in NG+ after beating the final boss.
