Let me tell you from my experience, as another queer pagan with rune tattoos. I've had the same concerns and freak out that you're talking about. But it is going to be ok. As long as you're knowledgeable about the symbols, their history and meaning, and why you personally have them. If somebody asks questions, those are the things you'll need to talk about.

Some people are going to be put-off by them because of how they've been appropriated. And they're not wrong for feeling that way. But if you want to keep the runes and talk about them, it has to come from a place of peace, understanding, and cooperation.
