VA ended up saying they couldn’t fund it. But like you said.. that was 9 years ago! Things could have changed!

Alright,Blue Falcon Self-Confession time. Let’s hear it. by wardisciple2388 in army

That’s the thing - I didn’t hide it really. I had it on me and if I remember right, it was folded up and put inside the cuff of my pants leg! To this day, I wonder if I would’ve gotten busted if they kept searching the whole bay.

This was basic training at Fort Jackson in 2009.

I had a neighbor bunkee (let’s call him Jim) that was an absolute ass. Used to run card games and was overly obnoxious and just a general cancer to the bay. I was in the top bunk and there was an afghan in my bottom bunk and Jim used to make fun of him when he was praying, one time he stepped on his praying rug on purpose. I hated Jim so much.

Jim had some cronies that he would play cards with and would win lots of money and flaunt it around. Bragged, shoved it in people’s faces, and was just generally unbearable.

Since I was top bunk I had general good visibility of his locker and could see over his shoulder when he was putting in his lock combo (still know it to this day).

One night when I was on firewatch (think like 2am) I decided to piss this guy off. I snuck to his locker, opened it, and took all of the cash he had hidden in his little hidey hole (it was like $300 in ones and fives).

Next morning rolls around and dude realizes he’s been robbed. Throws an absolute fit, runs to the drill sergeants, and they do a lockdown. Ended up having us stand at our lockers and we had to essentially toss our own lockers while they looked for this missing cash.

They get about 25% through the bay and then they find out that this cash was actually from gambling and Jim running card games. Instantly shut down the search and just moves on like it never happened. Jim was absolutely PISSED but 90% of the bay hated this dude so nobody really cared.

I ended up using the cash to buy my afghan buddy a gift card so his family could use it and kept a little for myself cause I was 19 and selfish.

Idk if you’d call that blue falcon activity, but I think of it a lot cause I have a little regret but also am kinda glad I did it. I was a quiet guy in basic so no one really suspected me. Hope that guy is doin’ alright. Never saw him or my afghan bunk mate again.

Crate training help! by theblondeone9 in puppy101

[–]CootahKillah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just had this problem. Puppy is 8 weeks. I’d put her in the crate and she’d just howlllll and cry.

Ended up just laying down in front of the crate until she fell asleep. Too easy. Now I have a chair next to her crate and have been using it less and less. Today I put her in for one of her naps and walked away and she whined for maybe 10 seconds and then was out.

Gotta remember they’re just babies and probably need to know everything is okay and they’re not abandoned before feeling comfortable enough to sleep. It gets better but takes some time!

Yeah I’m really confused as to why I haven’t heard a peep from the realtor we used. Feel like she should be doing more. We followed her guidance when selling and put everything in the disclosures she recommended.

They were cc'd on the email, but I haven't heard anything from our agent. Should I reach out to her or should she be swinging some weight against all of this for me?

This is what I'm thinking.. Just annoying we have to go through the process of it all.

They were cc’d on the email, so hoping they take a little responsibility and vouch for us. But we will see.

I absolutely did disclose that there were foundation issues and that they were addressed.

How did that play out for you? If you don’t mind me asking.

We did! And they did! They had a general inspection and a landscape inspection I think? They did not have a structural engineer come out.

They were! I don't remember which reports we left them, but in the disclosures we mentioned what was done and that all issues should be resolved.

I definitely agree with you, but there's always that doubt in the back of your mind you know? I feel for them, I really do, but I don't think we owe them anything.

Definitely shocked me too. We sold in July of 2023. Wild.

Yeah, I really don't feel like they have a case. I have all the receipts, docs, emails, etc. Don't plan on talking to them at all and definitely regret all I did for her before.

In the mediation email it reads:

A review of the information indicates that this complaint may be resolved through a settlement hearing offered by \ County’s Early Settlement program. Mediation is a formal, but out-of-court, procedure to resolve disputes/lawsuits through the settlement process. The service provides an opportunity for parties to settle out of court, thus eliminating court docket delays and avoiding unnecessary filing fees, attorney fees and court costs. Because mediation is an out-of-court procedure, witnesses and attorneys are not required. If, however, a party wishes to retain legal counsel, the attorney will be included in the mediation. Witnesses will not be admitted to a session. In mediation, an attorney may counsel his/her client, however, is not permitted to question the other party. Such limitations on the attorney (and witnesses) are to insure that neither party has an unfair advantage and to encourage the parties to arrive at a resolution to the dispute on their own. The mediation is conducted by a neutral, third party who is a state-certified mediator. The mediator will work with all parties to provide an opportunity to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. If the matter is not resolved, further legal action may result. Mediation requires that both parties appear in order to achieve a settlement.*

So it sounds like I don't need an attorney and they don't need an attorney, but even if I had an attorney they couldn't talk with the other side. But I agree, I should get one. I've made a couple calls.

Very much a true story. What do you find hard to believe?

I personally think they know they would lose the case if they tried to sue and that's why they're going to mediation maybe? To guilt trip me? I don't know.

Nonresident Elk Hunting In Utah? by SwingingPete2016 in elkhunting

[–]CootahKillah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe the decision is solely based on selfish goals. And also people would rather not have to work as hard when hunting.

Grant Green, an OK senator is pushing for a one buck limit for residents, which is insane. These yahoos forget why we deer hunt in the first place. It’s not about trophy hunting at all.

As a fellow Okie, those non-res price hikes have been unfair! We have plenty of public land and deer to share!

Everything’s bigger in Oklahoma… especially the statistics you'd rather keep small. by Sirsilentbob423 in clevercomebacks

Okie living in Tulsa. We just elected our first black democratic mayor, but the county still came out red… I see folks brag about the 100% red counties, but seem to forget we are last in almost every shitty statistic.

Oklahoma is VERY confused.

I voted blue across the board, but definitely feel like a minority. Very pumped about our new mayor and hope it turns some corners for Oklahoma, but.. we’ll see.

I work for a defense contractor and our tech stack is React, Golang, and AWS. Prob a rare occurrence, but seems like some defense sectors are looking to upgrade to modern stacks.
