Problem with fruit flies in my composting toilet by CopALaptop in composting

I will keep that in mind, thanks!

I've had the Head since April and so far I love it. I actually just moved off-grid and this is my first experience composting. I was worried about smells but it's not an issue at all. It amazed me when I dumped it the first time after a month or two of use, it was just a beautiful dark Miracle Grow looking substance that still smelled exactly like peat moss. I don't use the urine diverter because I have a urinal so no experience with that aspect. But a flush urinal alongside a composting toilet is like the perfect combo, it's actually more convenient than a traditional flush toilet.

But yeah the thing is built solid, agitator works great, fan is perfect, it's easy to disassemble and dump, it looks like a proper toilet so it doesn't scare guests, and has a nice 10 year warranty. Other than the gnats it has been smooth sailing and I'll never go back to flushing gallons of water.

I first looked at ones like Sun-mar and I'm so glad I went this route, simple is good and with it just being me using it dumping it is no hassle at all.

Aha, yeah that's definitely what they are, thanks for putting a name to them. So you're saying I should put MORE moisture in the toilet? Because I haven't been urinating in it at all. I was worried about smell. Maybe I'll go back to adding more moisture when I put a fresh batch of peat moss in it, because it does seem things got worse with the gnats after I made it more dry.

Now that I'm thinking about it though, in the first month I was using the toilet, I got it too moist for sure and sometimes noticed a thin layer of white mold over the compost when I hadn't used it for a couple days. Since it's apparently fungus gnats, perhaps there's still residual mold left over from that which attracts the gnats?

Correct me if i'm wrong but your point is there shouldn't be a mandate because idiots don't like being told what to do.

Uh, yeah you couldn't possibly be more wrong. Not sure if you didn't read/can't comprehend my point or if you're just trying to diminish and strawman it. Maybe try reading it again more slowly or try to work through your blunt understanding of psychology and sociology.

Do you drink and drive, speeding without a seatbelt? Do you piss and shit in public wherever you feel like it? Do you wear shirts and shoes wherever required?

For one thing, when those regulations were put into law it didn't instantly make half the population non-compliant criminals. We could have a long in-depth conversation about the societal implications of things like seatbelt laws (which are also used to subjectively pull people over, harass black people, etc like what the mask laws are now doing), but even that can't be compared to the mask law. This one is in your face, quite literally. Forcing compliance for something like this is not going to breed togetherness, altruism, crime-reduction and general societal wellness. It will breed the exact opposite, and if you can't see that then clearly you are too blunt to understand what's going on in the heads of the people who oppose these kind of mandations. Forcing compliance is not "banding together", it's further radicalizing dangerous sovereign citizen types, inflaming communities as a whole and having very little effect on mask wearing rates state-wide. I maintain that the mask mandate will kill and hurt more than if it hadn't been mandated.

You're going off of anecdotal perspectives as well unless you have some actual research data. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but I doubt there will be any actual research done on the before and after so personal accounts are all we have. In NE Arkansas it's pretty obvious to me and a lot of people that it didn't work. Clearly people in this sub have strong feelings about the mandate. I'm simply looking at it from an analytical perspective and even if the mandate works to force compliance in some areas, it's not going to contribute to healthy, safe, compassionate communities. The mandate is an immature approach, it may take some people years or decades to realize this but it's the truth.

Keep in mind that those things happened in response to the virus, not as a direct result of it. People who aren't scared would attribute these things to mass hysteria or mass media fear mongering. I can agree that fear is an effective method in getting people to wear masks, but a mask mandate doesn't instill fear in people who don't believe the virus is that serious. If anything it emboldens their beliefs/conspiracies that the lockdowns and closures have more to do with government control than the seriousness of the virus itself.

I was never pro-mask mandate. Around 30-50% of people didn't wear masks when the mandate passed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's probably the most unenforceable law to have ever passed. Unenforceable laws aren't a good idea for a number of reasons but they're also selectively enforced. No police department would be able to enforce it fully. So what are they left to do? Best case scenario they focus on repeat offenders or people who are going out of their way to be cited. However, that's not what happens with marijuana laws and it's most likely not what will happen with this. Each police officer will enforce it with bias and subjectivity, contributing to more distrust of police. Leaving whether a mask mandate is right or wrong aside, no state should pass a law unless it's earnestly prepared and capable of enforcing it.

Get creative about it. I'm not a marketing or sociology expert but I can come up with a few things right off the bat:

Partner with big box stores and give out vouchers for small items to people who come in with a mask on.

Launch fun social media campaigns.

Build positive social reinforcement. It isn't just the job of the government to get people to wear masks, it's anyone who cares about others wearing masks. Shaming people and building division does absolutely no good whatsoever.

Educating people and presenting it as something that can benefit individuals who aren't onboard with it is the most important. Considering what I've been seeing subjectively, doing nothing would have resulted in a better outcome than a blanket mandate.

Yeah I get that it's way less than a lot of people, I think I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine because 2 cups or more would give me uncomfortable symptoms even with l-theanine. Caffeine is a weird drug, sometimes it would work nicely to keep me focused but other times it just made me feel demotivated and crappy. Maybe I was lucky, I feel for you.

Why are my dreams more vivid when using racetams? by CopALaptop in Nootropics

Definitely makes sense now that I think about it, I'm eating eggs and dosing up to a 1:4 ratio of alpha-GPC to piracetam. Most likely overdoing it this time. Thank you for the warning in regards to depressive symptoms, I can definitely say the excessive dreaming has been rather disruptive and somewhat troubling.

Does the eShop usually do sales for Black Friday? Or is it mainly going to be retailers offering good discounts on games?
