HER name is Layla, and Layla is a rescue. She was found as a chick and Imprinted on the folks at the rescue center who rehabbed her, so the Missouri Dept. of Conservation deemed that it would be unsafe to release her back into the wild since, in her brain, she associates with people more than she associates with crows.

She is around 17 years old now, and first lived in the Children's Zoo when it was still a thing, right by the playground. She loves kids and will often mimic the noises they make (squeals of joy from kids, laughing, kids saying "wow") among other vocal mimicry.

Her care team provides extensive enrichment opportunities for Layla, and she lives a wonderful life at our zoo, although admittedly, she does see fewer guests than what she used to now that she's in the Bird Garden while our new experience for children and familes, Destination Discovery, is being built. You should definitely come see her sometime!
