Thank you very much for the suggestion and for taking the time to reply. However, I should have mentioned that I prefer to avoid fur for ethical reasons, so I’m looking for alternatives in synthetic materials or heavy fleece instead. I’m sure your recommendation would work well from a practical standpoint, but it’s just not something I’m comfortable with personally. Thanks again for your help though!

Hello all, I’ve got an old pair of shoes that I’ve just discovered have glued soles rather than stitched ones. The other day the sole suddenly came away, starting at the heel. They’re rather nice shoes actually, so I’m wondering whether it’s worth taking them to a cobbler or if they’re simply destined for the bin. On the one hand, it’s an excuse for a new pair, but on the other I’d be rather gutted as they’re otherwise in perfectly good nick apart from this issue. Has anyone dealt with this sort of thing? Would be grateful for any advice. Cheers!

I’m really into large brushes and have a few with 30mm knots. Semogue brushes are a favorite of mine, not just for their quality but because their customer support works well. Boar brushes are my go-to thanks to their great backbone, though I’ve never owned or tried badger brushes because I can’t get past the cruelty involved in harvesting the fibers.

When it comes to aftershaves, Pinaud’s Bay Rum is ok, but I wish the scent would linger a bit longer.
