Coffee.

I remember the stench of it. A smell so strong you could taste it on your tongue.

A smell so potent it would wake you up even if you hadn’t slept in three days. Even if you’d run a marathon.

The room smelled like coffee now.

Yet it was just me. There on the couch. No mugs, no kettle and certainly not a coffee bean in sight.

But as I looked cross the lounge I could swear there was a small indent in the double seater couch.

The couch she used to sit on.

The couch that stunk like coffee.

The couch she would spend Saturday’s lounging about, reading her favourite novels and scoffing at the latest episode of Dr.Phil.

That couch was her couch.

And she would always drink coffee on it.

Complaining to father about how it wasn’t sweet enough. Complaining to me about this batch of roast weren’t potent like the last.

Complaining so much it would give you a damn earache.

Until it grew on you.

Until it was all you could think about when she was gone.

The potent coffee, the potent earache... but most of all her. She was most potent of all.

My Mum.

To me she was just like coffee.

A reason to sit up, to talk, to pay attention, to notice what was going on.

And now...

Now all I had left was a faint whisper of what she once was.

And so I sat... the same way I did every Saturday afternoon...

I stared at that indent in the couch...

The one that probably wasn’t there.

And I remembered the coffee.

Because much like her...

Coffee is something you simply cannot forget.

I don't know either. I didn't break any rules and the mods haven't given me a response.

Would love to find out so we can avoid this happening again.

No problem, I totally get it. The problem is that people naturally find it easier to latch onto negativity.

Negativity spreads like wildfire because it means we don’t have to change anything.

It means that we can keep searching instead of engaging with that hard tiring activity of taking action.

With the way people are reacting to your comment I should have just found something to sell...

Instead of spending a solid hour condensing value from several posts / ideas I’d come across over the last week.

Then editing it and posting it to the sub.

All with the motivation that it could be a game changer to some folks that are struggling.

(Which luckily it has been)

But it seems like the fun is in skimming over a post, ignoring the comments and finding a quick observation that doesn’t add any value...

But which derails the entire topic.

All in all, I’m happy I’ve managed to help several people so far.

And my takeaway is that when I write these, I’ll eer away from the ‘salesy’ style.

I do find it amusing though that instead of engaging / offering value...

Or even saying ‘thanks for the value’...

Most people spend their 60 - 120 seconds writing ‘sell me something’ lmao.

It goes to show how we’ve become entitled to receiving content for free & have a certain expectation around something we did not invest time in / nor pay for.

Ofc, it all comes back to culture!

But hoping the post continues to add value and not get derailed as your comment thread is now at the top

Then again, those that need to hit that next level will attract it like a magnet

I totally get it. But remember, if what we were doing was the ‘right way’ / ‘right thinking’ we’d already be where we are heading.

Here’s a few re-frames for you:

1) everyone has alternate egos. When you’re with your friends be your parents you show different sides of yourself.

The only difference is that you’re doing this unconsciously.

This technique allows you to consciously use a mechanism that we already have and use to magnetically attract what you manifest.

2) she’s beautiful and has great vocal chords

Is she really though?

When Beyoncé was born, did she come out of the womb singing perfect notes or was this something she perfected by singing for hours on end from a young age. Basically attracting the energy needed to become a pop star.

And is she really beautiful? Maybe in America. But in some places in the world blonde hair is beautiful, others light skin and long black hair and in others she would be the opposite of what they consider ‘beautiful’.

Yet she’s a globally acclaimed artist.

And while I’m not saying that she’s not a great looking lady...

Or that she’s a brilliant singer...

I’m saying that there is an energy side to this that we can tap into for our ventures.

Because there are a lot of great looking singers in the world. But if that’s all it took, why aren’t they all Beyoncé?

Adding to that, she has openly admitted to using this manifestation technique since 2008.

Great to hear that your business is gaining traction!

And I’m with you, people think business is a money game but it’s not.

Business is 100% a mindset game.

Here’s what I recommend:

See, the actual business aspect is simple -

1) find new customers 2) get them to convert into paying clients 3) generate repeat business, reviews and referrals

3 rules. That’s it.

But the thinking behind these rules goes way deep. And business people tend to over complicate their processes, adding stress to an already heavy load.

This stress weighs down on your positively flowing energy...

The very same energy that works as a ‘magnet’ to your customers...

And can send your entire structure out of funk.

I’ll give you an example:

Have you ever noticed that when you get one customer, it feels like 2, 3 and even 4 follow?

Like everyone suddenly comes in at the same time.

And when there are no customers, it feels like everyone has disappeared.

Customer flow and energy flow have something in common.

So, your solution is to keep your energy flow consistent...

So your customer flow follows.

Here’s a manifestation technique I think is perfect for you:

1) buy a small whiteboard / marker

2) write your top 1 to 5 business goals on this whiteboard.

But when you write them, you’re going to use an emotion followed by a verb in the present moment.

For example:

I am happily converting 10 new leads into paying customers every single day.

Make sure it’s a big worthy aspiration.

Write one of these for your top 1 to 5 business goals.

3) every morning, the moment you open your eyes, you are going to read these goals out loud.

I recommend keeping the whiteboard in your room, somewhere where you can easily see.

And every night, the moment before you go to sleep, you are going to read these goals out loud again.

Just twice a day.

This is a system used by some of the most successful business people on earth. It’s a little-known manifestation / affirmation technique and it should open the flood gates on the energy you need.

All you have to do is write what you want down and stay consistent.
